If you like weapons breaking, yes.

Repair powders aren't hard to find and if a weapon breaks you can just fix it later

P.S. A word of advice to anyone who plays it: Don't do the last dungeon, the one you unlock after you beat the game. There's NO REWARD FOR IT. I was under the impression that there would be another georama area once you found the mineral you were looking for.

NO DICE. Also I think you can't save after you beat the bonus dungeon, which I hate in any game.

I was more pissed with the amount of time I wasted on this game than the cash. It was fun at first. Once I figured out the mechanisms for item creation and weapon upgrades I lost all interest. The game became more of a chore than fun. Also the story was pathetic.

For $20 its worth a try.

If you like doing side quests and stuff, yeah go for it. THis game has a bunch of stuff to do and it's pretty easy to get sidetracked from the main quest. Which I think the game intends to do since dungeon crawling can be a bit boring

Skip the first one

While the cell-shading is ok and such I thought the story and characters were really unlikeable and lame. That really kept me from finishing it. But a lot of people have different tolerances for that in mega-rpg type games.

Probably in my top 3 for this generation. Not for everyone apparently, but this game had everything but the kitchen sink and it really just came together for me. I liked the weapons upgrade, the spheda, the fishing, the item creations, the world building, and while the story was juevenile, it didn't bug me that much. And of course, Level 5 can do cel shaded great.

I tried to play it twice, didn't enjoy the levelling system or the prospect of georama, so I quit it after 10 hours and have basically written off Level 5 entirely. I hold grudges, you see. But that's OK, it saves me money.

::boggled::

so, like, no Rogue Galaxy/DQVIII in your future purchase history? i am sad for you.

:'(

I just picked this up for 10$ @ Toys R Us haha but I hardly have time to play it, or the countless other PS2 games I own.

too bad DK1 and DK2 suck monkey ass

Dark Cloud 2 was worth my $50...hell yeah the game is worth $20

xaosslug: don't try to make sense out of it...the guy's a regular Einstein

I should slightly rephrase. Under no circumstance will I look forward to one of their games; however, I reserve the right to play one down the line. But I'm not particularly interested in DQ8, and I don't know the first thing about Rogue Galaxy (or care to know, so don't tell me).

What a cop out. :lol

What? I didn't like DC2, so I don't hold L5 in high esteem. But if something is in the bargain bin, I might give it a look if I can't find anything else better to do. Check some reviews, some videos, and maybe buy it. If that game turns out allright, my opinion could change. It's no big deal. Otherwise, what I said is true. I'm not going to worry about following a Level 5 game because there's no reason for me to do so.

One developer: Starbreeze

I can't claim to have spent more than 30 minutes with Enclave, haven't played anything else by them. Other than Riddick, I don't even know what other games they've worked on. One guess: Dark Cloud 2 isn't one of them.

I meant that even if you don't like one game (and in this case, the game is arguably great), that doesn't mean the developer is untalented.

Just keep doing your research. Never buy blindly, obviously.

I never suggested they weren't talented. In fact, I'm sure they are. Otherwise, Microsoft wouldn't have tabbed them for TFLO, Square-Enix wouldn't have gotten them to do DQ8, and Sony wouldn't keep them around doing Rogue Galaxy (I assume it's a Sony title). It's just that I don't care. Again, it's no big deal, there are enough games to play without having to follow every single game that comes along. Or even every great game that comes along. Then again, I've never been one to post a hundred games whenever someone makes the "what games are you buying [insert timeframe/sale here]" thread.

i got it for $5 and ended up selling it after about an hour of play because it just didn't interest me at all. Different strokes though, there's nothing really broken with it (as far as camera, control, framerate) that i could tell, so you might like it if jap rpgs are more your thing.

No.
It has the most boring dungeons and combat I had the misfortune of experiencing.
Also, the whole game gives a new meaning to the word 'TEDIOUS'

I powered through it on a two week rental. I made myself sick.

So, that's a thumbs up I guess. Yeah.
