Its in my top 10 games of all time. Prefer it over dark souls.

Its not very different from dark souls 1 in terms of graphics, mechanics etc.

But I do feel if possible, branch out to nioh etc or wait for next from soft game. As you may know it's a huge time commitment. If you have played all newer from games you probably have seen most of what makes it great. Except for dreadful atmosphere perhaps in which demon's is unmatched.

I found it a very unique and very disheartening experience, but beating it is one of the greater joys of gaming.

Precisely because it is so hard. It forces you to keep paying attention and think. Keep getting beat down and emerge victorious.

Wonderful atmospheres in the 5 worlds. Glorious stuff.

Wait a few months there's a good chance a remaster/remake by Bluepoint is on the way. The original is rather clunky these days especially if you've played later From games.

Yes it is. Just keep in mind that it's the least polished Souls title.

Magic is hilariously OP(the game's hidden easy mode), health regen builds make you effectively unkillable(imagine the Blessed infusion, but the regen is better in every way), there is no poise, World Tendency is weird, and Pure Bladestone is a bitch to farm.

The servers for multiplayer are shut down, however there is a private server, just go to the Demon's Souls subreddit to find out how to access the private server.

EDIT: also there are ledges your character can vault over. But you can't jump(no running jump, no jump attacks, and no plunge attacks). Crystal Lizards respawn, but they have a limited spawn count and if one gets away that is one less on the spawn count, killing bosses resets this a bit.

When this first came out the atmosphere was incomparable and you knew you were playing a classic within 90 mins of starting, DS will always be one of the top picks for games folk wish they could play again as if they'd never played it before.

yeah i bought the game the next day and finished it it within 4 days

this game is incredible, the bosses don't hold up that well but goddamn the level design, the lore, the characters, everything is just..

It's definately worth playing if you haven't played it before. I actually found myself in the same situation as you, having played all the Souls games except Demons' Souls, and got the game on PS3 not too long ago. The game does feel dated in some aspects, as it does feel alot clunkier than the newer titles and it does start off as a bit of a drag. But once you get into the meat of the game it gets pretty damn good. I wouldn't worry too much about the "World Tendency" stuff and just play the game naturally - that mechanic is best left for 2nd playthroughs. You may not love it as your favourite souls game but if you're a fan of the series, it'll definately be worth your time.

P.S. The game does indeed look amazing when emulating on PC.
