Is Destiny coming to PC?

I suspect Bungie is more comfortable, as a company, developing on consoles. Have they ever made a PC game? How long has it been if they have?

Why would it? Activision doesn't really care about PC and Bungie doesn't either.

There's no one in those meetings to say "hey, wouldn't it be cool if those filthy pirates could get their hands on Destiny?"

This is satire, right? Activision releases basically all their multiplats on PC.

They've released more PC games than console games. :p

How on earth did you come to thar conclusion?
Because you move that circle around (ya know, like a mouse cursor) to select options instead of the console familiar up and down to highlight and select the next option. It's the exact thought I had in my head when I first played it. In most pc games, that is how you navigate the menus, by clicking on shit.

Blizzard must have a lot of uncomfortable meetings.

Wow, people really need the sarcasm sign to get jokes around here
Even the strongest sarcasm detector on the internet would have had trouble hearing it in what you wrote.

It was too short and simple to see any sarcasm purely in the words, and the opinion that console games on PC are ruined because of hackers and cheats is not uncommon enough on its own to be immediately seen as a joke.

It's the worst. I can't stand M&KB for shooters, urgh.

RTS games, yeah, great, but I'd rather play a shooter with a Quickshot II than a mouse and keyboard.

Gamepads are objectively worse than KB&M for FPS. Two players of equal skill, one on KB&M one on pad, KB&M wins.

Destiny 2 on PC would be glorious.

Well, for starters you move the point-cursor around as if it was a mouse.

When I played, everytime I touched anything to do with a menu I wished I had a mouse to make it not feel so pointless and clunky. It just doesn't seem like someone would intentionally make navigating something that you are constantly interacting with so slow unless it was designed for a different system. It would make sense if you had a mouse to move that cursor. Makes zero sense with a controller.

IMO of course.

My guess for the cursor based menu selection is for easier control(with analog sticks and all)not because it's tailored for PC integration but that's just my 2 cents.

Well that's probably true. It just feels clunky though and I know it'd be a perfect fit for PC.

That's literally all of my reasoning to be honest, lol.

They were PC/Mac only until Halo.

Their last internal PC release (if you count Bungie West as internal) was Oni. Halo PC and Halo 2 PC were outsourced.

Nope, especially this far off.

You'd have a higher chance seeing Destiny 2.

That said, Bungie is not a PC dev anymore. So you'd have someone else porting it over.

No, because of hacks and cheats
You know people have hacked in console games before right?

I hope this was a joke post.

Bungie hasn't commented on this in a while, but some of what they said earlier made me slightly optimistic. Maybe the GOTY edition.

Bungie has trouble building the game for 4 plataforms. Includibg pc isnt going to help.

Game is ace tho. If it doesnt come to pc, i hope you guys find another way to experience it.

I think there will be a Year One collection. Some gear uses that term in the perk menu....

I don't know if Destiny 1 on PC is even worth it.

With the amount and quality of the content it has, coming to the PC base that is used to and expects higher quality in many of the concepts that Destiny introduced to console-players...

Especially after the critical reception of Destiny. Better off just trying to bring 2 to PC if/when it comes out.

If anything, I'd probably expect something like a DX12 version of MCC collection getting announced at E3 instead. But yeah, if they like money, they'd probably at least eventually release Destiny on PC, since they've probably already made a lot of the money they were going to make on consoles by now.

I think if it does activision will wait for all the expansions and dlc to be released and then will bundle it into a definitive edition for the PC for full price to get people to double dip or for PC only players. And they'll do it to build up hype for Destiny 2.

Yeah, the base game and expansion pass are collectively "Year 1" and they cap out at the max stats attainable in House of Wolves. Year 2 will presumably go higher.

I swear Bungie said they were working on a pc version before console released, but they were looking into protecting it from trainers ala Diablo 3 on pc.

I would prefer them announcing Destiny 2 with a single player campaign for PS4/XBO/PC instead. No interest in Destiny 1 whatsoever.

The hatred against destiny is hilarious. Stay classy master race

I'm just imagining running Destiny at crazy resolution / DSR'd 1080p... that art design, at a locked 60fps...

But also, no. I hope they bring Des2ny to PC, however.

I dunno man, seems like in terms of critical mass, both the FPS crowd on PC (e.g. CS:GO etc.) and the MMO crowd on PC (e.g. WoW etc.) are firmly entrenched in their respective games. It feels like at best it'd be sent out to die about as fast as Titanfall.

Yeah, this is an interesting thought. No matter how quickly it dies it will sell reasonably well in the first month.certainly enough to be worth the effort. But could doing so hurt the brand? I think it could but I'm not sure I think Activision does.

I think Activision sees another 1-2 million in sales and pulls the trigger.

Do you think they'd even come close to that? I don't.

Given the whole gameplay DLC loop of Destiny I don't expect it to hit PC. They want you to max out, play the end game, come back for the DLC, loop. A delayed release which would already have a lot of that loop irrelevant doesn't make a lot of sense for their business model.

Maybe once they've moved onto full efforts for Destiny 2 and the DLC loop has ended. But I think they'll just start with Destiny 2.

Unless Destiny 2 isn't a thing, I don't see why they'd bother with the first game at this point given the ratings.

It isn't exactly the leggiest game in NPD.

I don't see it mattering much until Destiny can release something that's actually worth even calling an "expansion" by PC conventions.

There's not enough there, there.

lol, what the hell is this? Why is everyone so sad? Why does that monkey with the mustache duck out of the frame?

I MUST KNOW THESE THINGS.

It's from the Donkey Kong Country animated series but, I have absolutely no idea what episode it's from.

Boy, this game would get destroyed by both the PC FPS and MMO crowd.
That's the first thing that came to mind haha, Bungie's feelinsg are probably already super hurt by the console population's criticism, having the PC crowd with their higher standards have a go at it too would be brutal.

Are Bungie's feelings really more important than money though? Porting costs are really going to be minimal as most multiplat games are developed on a PC platform anyway.

Played the PS4 version...it's meh at best

What a wonderful addition to GAF you'll make.

I don't see them releasing on PC. And as much as I would love to play Destiny at 4K, 60fps, etc. at this point I and all my friends are so invested in either PS or MS ecosystems that it's hard to fathom starting over again on PC. Though it would be nice for gamers that don't own the console.
