Is it safe to drink tap water?

Paying for bottled water is ridiculous. Unless your pipes are super fucked and whatever's coming out of the faucet makes you question if it's alive, go ahead and drink tap water.
If you are SUPER paranoid, boil it up before drinking.

Are there seriously people in developed nations who only drink bottled water? What would make them think there's anything wrong with tap water?

New York is drinkin it (New World Water)
Now all of California is drinkin it (New World Water)
Way up north and down south is drinkin it (New World Water)
Used to have minerals and zinc in it (New World Water)
Now they say it got lead and stink in it (New World Water)
Used to be free now it cost you a fee
The rich and poor, black and white got need for it
Americans wastin it on some leisure shit
And other nations be desperately seekin it

Ive been drinking uk tap water for nearly 28 years and I'm not dead from it yet.

That being said I cant drink tap water at my sisters place. Doesn't taste right. Think its too "soft" or something.

Unless you've been told there's a problem in your area's water, why wouldn't it be safe? Is this an American thing? Bottled water is for when I am not at home.

I literally have no water in my house. Usually in my house we have like 9 big bottles of water but we ran out and my dad forgot to go get more.

Can I drink tap water without dying?

edit: not literally

What country do you live in when you have to ask a question like this? Honestly curious.

yep. Hawaii has the cleanest tap in the nation I think. It was really funny to see people stock up on bottled water when we had the hurricane warning a few weeks ago instead of just storing their tap water.

Do people really drink that water? I have an uncle that does but he's a patriotic weirdo who votes for high teacher wages. We've always assumed he was a goose stepper because he likes that faucet juice.

It's pretty much all I drink, other than like tea, which I make with tap water. I mean, if you lived in like a third world country, I could see the desire for bottled water, but you live in the United States, come on man...

Put me in the same camp as Kabouter here. Its fucking water. Unless you live next to a major fracking operation or something...its water

Bottled water is one of the most mindblowing industries to me.

Bottled water... Why? Get something like this.

Anyone that drinks bottled water when they have a perfectly good tap is a complete dickhead that deserves a bloody hard kick in the balls/cunt

OP, I'm genuinely curious as to what made you ask this question.
Well I wouldnt go drinking water straight from the tap in some countries, but first world countries it wont be an issue.

Otherwise, statistically, 100% of people who drink water die. So there is always that.....

Ouch. I still rather drink my cold fresh arrowhead. I did try my tap water and it's just nasty tasting. Not cold enough too.

Towns and cities spend millions of dollars to clean tap water and it's highly regulated. Bottled water on the other hand has very little regulation plus drinking from plastic is not healthy

I have well water but we have a drinking tap filter. That's what I drink.

Shit, when I was a kid me and my brother would drink from the water hose outside rather then stop playing and go inside for a drink. You'll live.

I am from austria we have awesome water its pretty much the only thing i drink at home :D
You can always just heat it for tea it if you think there is something wrong.

Can we brag about the awesomeness of our local tapwater itt? Because if we can i would like to say Dutch tap water is the best and tastiest water i ever drank.
