For those turned off by Sinden light gun's border around the screen, there is this new player in the light gun market called Gun4IR which is more of a diy project and seems to be pretty accurate.

I'm more turned off by IR points around my monitor. And the $250 it takes to get someone to build it for me so I can then boast I have the most awesome DYI thing like tubers of that sort. Sinden is priced way more sensibly in comparison.

Edit: oh it's actually the Guncon45 shell modded that is $250 so no fancy recoil like that thing in the video, the SuperJolt modded with Gun4IR was like double that. They also offer the $200 AimTrak modded with Gun4IR now at that store.

Edit: holy shit the AimTrak gun is not pre modded for $200 like the others (all sold out), you send your existing AimTrak which probably cost as much as/more than a Sinden for them to mod it for you and ship it back for that $200. Yikes.

I guess availability varies as they source different kinds of guns. They still have a huge mark up compared to what the actual parts cost but hey, it's manual labor and if you're incompetent with your hands for such stuff like me, you pay.

But if you can build it, have lightguns laying around to use, have an arcade cabinet that you don't mind putting some barely visible IR leds around as the borders would actually be more invasive in that scenario, sure, it's the way to go.

Otherwise Sinden is cheaper and works on any and all screens, without having to set up leds on all of them on top, even projectors that you wouldn't be able to set IR leds around so easily, etc. And the custom shell seems decent.

Yes, a white border around the screen. The gun barrel is basically a camera and it uses that white border to recognize the bounds of the screen and correctly align the cursor inside of it.
