I recently got Netflix on the PS3, and wanted something to watch in 25 minutes, so decided to see if I'd still enjoy Spongebob Squarepants. I remember watching a few episodes when I was younger and enjoying it, but I never really paid much mind to it. Having watched a couple from Season 2 though, the programme seems to be awesome, even though I'm 22 years old. There's just something delightfully charming about the art style, the animation, the little sound effects, the cuts to real footage, everything really. I don;t know how to explain it, but it feels crafted by people who care for it. So I have 3 questions for you:

1) Do you consider me immature for enjoying Spongebob Squarepants and wanting to carry on watching it for the first time?
2) Does it drop in quality, and when?
3) What cartoons have a better artstyle*?

*If that's the right phrase for cartoons

2). i watched sponge bob on an off and on basis, so i don't really have any idea about the order the episode aired. I don't really watch the show anymore but i can't really give any tangible reasons why.
3). anything not 3D has a good artsyle imo. >_>

Never liked the show. All the omgtotallyrandom kids loved it when I was in high school though.

I was forced to watch it every morning for a couple months when I was taking my cousins to school in the morning and I thought a few moments were laugh worthy. Definitely not deserving of the hate I had previously given it at least.

It always seemed to me like it was trying hard to be Ren and Stimpy but tamer.

Watch The Angry Beavers. Or Rocko. Both have the same type of humor as SB, but I think both are better(the first few seasons of Spongebob are still solid though).

No, it was pretty great in its prime. I agree that there was a dropoff after the movie came out.

I really like the new my little pony show as well. I'm really suprised at how good it is.

Season 1-3 are great. They STILL hold up, and are still halarious.

Past that, season 4 onwards, the quality nosedives. They stopped appealing to adults, and made Spongebob and Patrick caricatures or themselves.

The movie is good too.

Also, the best 10 minutes of the show is the episode where Mr. Crabs is trying to scare SB to get that "#1" hat back. I'm not sure why I find it so fucking funny but when Brother Justin Crowe says "I'm a ghooooooost...of somebody who's dead noooooooow..." I crack up. My son saw that it makes me laugh, so now he does an impression of this, though he mangles the words.

I enjoyed the first several seasons. It was never my favorite cartoon but it was pretty solid.
