Is Master Chief Collection worth getting for the single player alone?

I bought it and I am enjoying it but so far the stories about multiplayer are true. Horrible lag in this game. Though I am enjoying playing Halo 2 for the first time and the cutscenes look anazing.

I'd suggest that if you're getting persistent lag now, that's likely to be an external factor rather than the game.

I only get lag consistently in Halo 3 for whatever reason. Double grenades being tossed, warping enemies, etc.

Still a lot of fun when it's working fine though

No it doesn't it still take me 5 minutes to find a match and that's only if you play Slayer.

I was wondering if I was alone with this. I happened to put it in and was going to play a match on a whim but holy shit it took forever to find a fucking match.

Not necessarily. It is not as common as it used to be but every so often I have a very bad match. Seems to be in Halo 3 big team battle for most instances.

Other than games not saving/achievements not unlocking, all four campaigns ran very well for me. I'm sure that the issues I mentioned have been fixed in the last 9 months.

Hopefully.

But why pay for a sub par experience? Sure the campaigns work well enough but they're not perfect. I'd say unless you can find a cheap code online or a used copy, don't buy it. It's not a well made game. Probably worst purchase I've ever had for a game, and massively regret investing in Xbox One and what it turned out to be last year. Stuck with a 500gb white sunset console that pretty much gathered dust, a headset that went unused, a play and charge kit that went unused, and a year of live that again expires soon and was a waste.

I even bought the mcc map book, and an American MCC case so I could have a non French cover.

weird, it's pretty damn good for what it is. 4-5 campaigns, +2 more of them include both the OG version and a remade version of halo 1 and 2.

Maybe it was real bad when it launched but i've only had one crash in my +20 hours with the game so far and that was during a load screen. restarted the game and it was just fine.

I had never played the Halo campaigns before the Collection, and after I did, I finally realized why people love it so much. Do it.

I bumped the thread because I already bought it and I'm highly enjoying it mainly because I've never played Halo 2.

I advise the OP to disregard everything this man said. I bought in at launch and had no issues personally with the campaigns. As a lifelong Halo lover I played the multiplayer from the get-go. I would say that at it's worst it took about ten minutes on average to find a game, and my party and I would get dropped out once in awhile, but we suffered through and I'd say that it wasn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be.

However, none of that matters now if you're considering picking it up, because since the June update it's been as stable of an online experience as any other Halo game has been.

Get the game.

You'll be getting 4 games(5 if you buy ODST) but really, it is absolutely worth it. Too much content and that is all what I played infact when they were fixing the MP which as of today works much, much better than before.

I can only imagine how awesome it must be coming to the Halo trilogy SP (or COOP) and playing them all through in sequence, for the first time, on XB1.

What was wrong with them? I'm slowly replaying the games, still at Halo 1 and so far haven't run into any issues yet (maybe a few frame drops here and there, but they were not really noticeable). Only possible bug I've encountered was jerky water animation in Halo 3. Not sure if it was like that too with the original release

The only reasons I ever bought Halo's was for SP. Heard Halo 4 was a joke on length but 343 claims this one will be twice as long.

Never liked Halo's MP per say. Yes, the SP justifies the purchase if it turns out good.

The only real issue for campaign for single player is that the chapter transitions don't blend perfectly from mission to mission, bookending cinematic to cinematic, with the jarring introduction of loading screens. Hardly a terrible thing, but it does break up what was a seamless experience in their original forms. Just an issue with the piecemeal nature of its development, I guess. Tremendous value and the best performance of these games all in one package, so it's definitely a must-own for a Halo fan or someone looking to get in now.

I would argue, but I can't tell if this post is even serious

Yes, 100%.

Playing through the games at the moment. Just got to Halo 4, having never played it before. The game looks absolutely tremendous. Borderline next-gen quality in many ways. Big shout out for Halo 2 Anniversary as well which is absolutely gorgeous.

I understand MCC had a lot of issues with online multiplayer, but even if you bought this exclusively for the single player it's worth it. There's 4 campaigns worth of content on the disc (and you add a fifth for dirt cheap as a download for ODST), and there's a lot of love and care gone into the games.
