Warren G is making a new album it looks like.. and one of the best albums of the year was released this summer on a shitty label... but the Blaqout album by Kurupt and DJ Quik is hawt

EDIT: Also he recovering fine with no problems with his voice, last reported...

But shit he is only 39.. :(
YES. People here would rather listen to ass-eating Kid CuDi instead. Shameful.

Jay Z wishes he was half the rapper Nas is.
Lol.

One of the things I absolutely cannot stand about about Nas is how full of shit he is. He'll rap about all this underdog shit and then go and spit something homophobic or misogynistic with venom. Illmatic is great, but people seem to ignore the fact that the production and the length that it is, which is rare for a rap album, play a large part in that.

Am I the only one who feels the Nas of Illmatic is almost like a different MC from everything else he's done since? The butter-smooth flow, the style of delivery, the subject matter...

The reason this question gets asked a lot is because when Nas went at Jay the whole fucking world knew it. Before that rappers were doing disses but Ether is that song that revolutionized the diss record. After that dissing somebody was the thing to do and if you wasn't then nobody cared.

For me personally it's my favorite because I listened to Ether everyday for a month after it was out.

Not really. Roxanne Shante going at UTFO was well known, as was MC Shan and KRS-One. LL and Kool Moe Dee also got attention. These were all in the mid to late 80s. Bone Thugs vs. Crucial Conflict. Pac and Big. Eminem vs all white pop stars. All of those were before Nas and Jay.

If it is the first one that you noticed, so be it. But don't discount what is and has been a staple of hip hop for many years just because you just got on board in the new millennium.

And I'm not in anyway doing so. I was just saying that even though going at it on wax has been around as long as Hip-Hop has Ether and The Takeover brought the diss record mainstream. Pac and Big brought it to the attention to the world when the East and West was going at it. And that didn't stay disses too long. And most of us thought Hip-Hop learned its lesson from that. Nas and Jay went hard at each other in a climate that because of Big and Pac that dissing was looked down upon. Because of those actions dissing is a integral part of the Hip-Hop culture now. On a much grander scale like it or not because of that. So like I said I'm not gonna discredit all the MC's that came before and did it. It's just that I gotta give the Nas/Jay beef it's due. That beef forever changed Hip-Hop. After that everybody had a diss record. But even now the diss record is being slowly replaced with Tweets and YouTube vids. The art isn't the same anymore because the internet has made the world like a game of Telephone. Something happens and what you end up hearing isn't the story at all. The diss record will be around as long as music exists but the evolution of it can go so many ways.
