Is Ninja Gaiden 4 (still?) happening?

Is this series still alive? After Ninja gaiden 3 and yaiba (different dev); its been all quiet these fronts. Any news or whispers?!

they said they were working on it, that was a couple years ago. Hopefully they don't have their heads up their asses this time and finally put out a good, original (non-sigma) post-itagaki ninja gaiden game

i want to care about the soldiers that i kill

I've played over 500 hours of DMC2 and consider the game good.

I dunno if I can take your opinion seriously. ;)

When did they say they're working on it? I'm sure they won't for a while.
Edit: Team Ninja is working on Ni-Oh if it's still happening. But unlike NG 4 we had news about that game last year.

Interesting do you have a source for that? I was hoping someone would money hat NG4 so we could get it faster... Maybe Team Ninja learned from their mistakes..

Maybe after The Devil's Third is a thundering colossal failure, Itagaki can go back to Tecmo and do it.

Otherwise, no thanks.

It will be a huge surprise if they make NG4 but it better be damn good. NG3 ruined the gameplay and pacing.

If I were Hayashi or the new director, I would use NG Black or NG2 as the template for combat and improve it further. Make the story mode as long as NG2.

My opinions of course but damn, this topic made me think of NG. Missed that series. Huge fan right here.

I'll take anything at this point, they should have learned a bunch of lessons from NG3. I would love to see a new Ninja Gaiden

I'm really anticipating a new NG, I want them to go full monty. Build a new engine for next gen, blow us away with graphics like NG1 did on the OG XBOX. Give us some natural and organic looking environments and enemies, please decrease on all that mechanized, and robotic stuff. Get color and great textures back in Tecmo games (NG) and (DOA) too.

I was just recently thinking.... hmmm... "when are these guys going to show this" and I'm thinking, it will be at TGS this year......it's due really..

Let it go.

The CEO said we may hear more about this at the end of this year.

Which is weird considering this is a game that started development in 2004.....

There is certainly a Ninja Gaiden title in the works as well.

How does Razor's Edge compare to 2? I remember being blown away by the original release of Ninja Gaiden 3. Half of the moves gone, one weapon for the entirety of the game, metal t rex, every encounter is like the challenge rooms from the first game, and so on. Did it ever come out what in the hell happened with that game?

NG3 RE had input lag at times. I've never had a similar issue with NGB or NG2.

there is 0 input lag in Razor's Edge. I finished the game many times and never had any problems. You can easily cancel almost any animation in the game and connect almost all combos. When I went back to NG1 and 2 they felt super sluggish and unresponsive.

I played the fuck out of black and II.

Razors edge adds most of the weapons back. However if your expecting anything along the lines of the two masterpieces I mentioned, your gonna be disappointed.

It's definitely playable, don't mind the gaf hyperbole.

NG 2 combat slapped on a shitstain. That's NG3:RE. Still less weapons like NG 2. Still a stupid T.Rex boss and so on. I mean the changes made in re were all good, but the core game is so flawed...

I don't know, man. Maybe it's just me but sometime's I'm sitting there pressing the dodge button countless times trying to get Ryu to perform reverse wind and it doesn't work.

Hell, I didn't even notice it in NGS. NG3 and RE were the only two games where it felt like there was a lot of lag.

I reverse wind even mid combos and it always works the micro second I press it, of course if you are getting attacked by enemies then you can't dodge. The amount of control you have over your characters in Razor's Edge is incomparable to previous games, at least in my experience and I have beaten all three modern Ninja Gaiden games many times.

Same here. There is input lag on NG3 and RE but not the other predecessors. And I plat/got all cheevos for all of NG games.

I would really love a new Ninja Gaiden but they need to go back to what made the first Ninja Gaiden (by Itagaki) good. The last couple of games, Ninja Gaiden 3 and Yaiba, were shit and they left a bad taste in my mouth.

Then I obviously have no idea what input lag is. I always thought it was the delay between pressing a button and the action being performed on the screen.

Still find it funny after Devils Third people think it's Iatagki alone that made Ninja Giaden great. :P
That said, it's in works the problem is Hayashi is also head of the collaberation wing, they need to clear out some projects and pass the planning stage. So around TGS we should hear something. When the DOA art team has slowed down with dlc, THAT is when you look around. It's in works. You should look at Senran Kagura next dlc character you might get some hints. :P

You know...having completed Sigma 1, 2 and DS, the best one remains Sigma 1. 2 Got a bit worse with its tone, level design, story and overall polish but the battle system remained solid and I still enjoyed my time with it. DS one looked impressive for a DS game and the gameplay was interesting for a while, but it felt pretty repetitive after the novelty wore off. NG3 demo was pretty terrible, RE demo was a bit better but it still felt worse than Sigma 2. A couple of weeks ago I saw RE for €10 on the Wii U. I would have liked to get it on the PS3 to complete the collection (that and I heard it runs better on the PS3) but I went ahead and bought it. Still have yet to start on it.

Ninja Gaiden series are one of the few where I completed all games around release (ignoring the older ones, hush). Something keeps me coming back to them despite the games keep getting worse. 1 is still the best one. Honestly, Ninja Gaiden 4 would be worse than 3 if the tradition continues. That would be pretty terrible.

By the same token, while Itagaki hasnt worked on Ninja Gaiden, its been shit. Hayashi even managed to fuck up both Sigma titles when all he had to do was make a best of version with some new additions.

Devils Third looks like a shockingly appalling game and I bet theres some really interesting stuff to hear about the development of it because it seems like a xlusterfuck, but even if Itagaki made a thousand bad games, he was always very good at Ninja Gaiden.

Hayashi happened. Put someone who's not Hayashi in the director's chair, maybe we'll have a chance at getting a decent NG post-Itagaki.

Hey, you don't know it's going to fail yet!

:P

Having only played Razor's Edge, I'm going to say that 2 is better. Cutting through mooks is fun, but the boss fights in Razor's Edge are complete shit.

Hiyashi has said in the past it was happening (during Yaiba interviews I believe)
There are probably a few reasons why its probably taking so long...

1. Working with (or making) a new engine for current gen

2. Going back to the drawing board after the disaster that was NG3

2. it being on a large scale so it may take a long time to make

and finally

its been 2 years since razors edge came out, you can't just churn a new action game on a new system

Yeah and they are also working on stuff like Dissidia.

Isn't it possible that it's not happening anymore with the way 3 flopped and how RE did not manage to change the perception of 3?

If Hayashi said it was happening during Yaiba interview, that has been a while ago. Many things can change.
