Is Nintendogs Selling? ... Anecdotal Evidence Ahoy!

Nintendogs sold out on launch day, we've been replenished but Dacshund got sold out today as well (got the last copy bwhahah)... Chiuhaua is the one no one wants though.. Lab is selling well as well.

Well I went to work today and... Dachsund was sold out completely after the first day. We got more on Thursday, and we sold that last copy (out of a shipment of four) today. We have 3 Labs left and 2 Chihuahuas. Three people bought three separate versions of the game in the three hours I was there until closing. No DSes were sold.

Also, two people bought Advance Wars. It's been selling pretty well here.

I would guess we had 8 games for the initial shipment of all 4 of the aforementioned games. We sometimes get 5 or 3, but if they've been selling pretty well and we only have a few left of each (as stated).

Tomorrow I work the evening again. So I'll post an update since this is pretty surprising for me that it's doing as well as it is.

Also, I talked someone into an Xbox 360, but sort of on accident. Heh.

Did you get a bonus for getting him to preorder? :lol

Manhattan Beach, CA fry's had a grip load when I picked up Chihuahua and AW yesterday. Today, all versions, gone...

Two black guys walked into Gamestop today, true story."What the hell?"Somethin' just barked at me."

haha, that family guy episode was hilarious!

our store sold out of dachsund versions on the first day, as did lab version, chi version we still had 2 copies after 1st day..

We then got new shipments in and sold out of daschund again had still 3 copies of chi after 2nd day and then 3 copies of lab.. got 1 more shipment of daschund in and sold 2 of those out of 5 already.. and i left at 5pm yesterday

I bought the last copy at my local Fry's. And this store is absolutely massive so I was pretty suprised. And I bought my copy 4 days ago FYI.

Whoa wait, people are actually preordering with those rediculous bundles? Which bundle was he going to get?

I walked into a toys r us, and I saw a little girl tugging on her mom showing her a Nintendogs promo movie. The Mom looked at the DS box for a minute then they left. I'm assuming the little girl will either bug her mom incessantly about it or she'll get it as a birthday gift.

I went to EB Games today at the Ridgedale Mall here in Minnesota looking for Advance Wars DS. The guy said "We got a couple of new copies in yesterday but we're all sold out now. We do have the Nintendogs, though. We've gotten new shipments every day this week and sold out each one, so far."

There was this nintendogs barking stand at the entrance to the store, too. And in the first shelf you notice right in front of the door, there were about 15 display boxes for Zelda: Twilight Princess.

I'd like anecdotal evidence on whether a real dog will respond to the Nintendogs barking. Interestingly enough my dachsund will bark at thunder storms and other small annoyances, but never at dogs on TV. He's a lazy dog, so I'm always looking for ways to tease him.

that's the one with a boxer. we grabbed it up quick for my son.

Boxer's rock ass!!

Went to get my copy today. As seems to be the general pattern, Dachs was the most popular and there weren't any copies left. There were ~5 copies on the shelf of the other two. I briefly considered getting the underdog (PUN) Chihuaha instead, but then I remembered there's a reason it's the underdog. So Drinky the Welsh Corgi it is!

Not that I'm interested in Nintendogs (seems rather lame), but what is the difference? I thought the only things mixed around were dog breeds and possibly some items?

No different items.

Not even the dog breeds are mixed.

Literally, the ONLY difference between the versions is what breeds you start out with. ALL the breeds can be unlocked when you get enough trainer points.

Then how is Chihuahua the underdog? From my understanding, it has Alsatians (if I recall), and we all know that Alsatians are the best dog breed ever.

Eh. I still think everyone is waiting for the special, limited edition version.

You know that would sell hundreds of extra copies... or at least 20 more to the GAFfers.

I don't work at EB. He got the $399.99 system.

I'm so excited - Nintendo (NCL) just announced Nintendogs Christmas Kennel. It's a special edition, featuring this dog.

I'd to add, that at PLay-Asia.com they keep changing the availability from 24h to 1w.
IT's like the get a shipment, then they get more orders and then they change it.

GO THE DAWGZ <--- PLayah talk...

copies for me and a co-worker are on the way... :D

Even though you can eventually unlock all the dogs, I think the average person sees what dogs are available at the start and goes with that. Plus, I think the Dauschaund cover has the highest 'cuteness' factor. Beagles and Huskies for the win.

as an update, nintendogs has been consistenltly sold out for the last three days.

Sold through the rest of our copies tonight, so there's a lot of demand out there, not much ds hardware sales though, so it's a lot of current owners... our entire staff at the store owns a copy, and we're going insane for it.

EDIT: Jesus, that's an actual dog?

This is the kind of story I like to read in the LA Times:

LA Times said:
Lockheed, 53, enjoys massaging Sam's fleshy, thin, potato-chip ears and running her fingers through the small patches of white hair on his head.

She likes kissing Sam's hairless frame, littered with blackheads, brown warts and moles. Even his hindquarters have a large hernia lump.

I have read that there are different
characters on the RC Kart between versions (Peach, Bowser, Mario)
and a few other minor differences, but nothing that's worth buying more than one version for a single player.

Anecdotal Evidence:

1. When I bought the game from Best Buy, the Lab and Dach versions were half the size of the Chi version. Assuming that no one had bought the Chi version yet, and that the other two started with the same number, that'd mean about 15 sales already when I picked it up the first night it was at Best Buy.

2. At a Wal-Mart (regular, not Supercenter) I stopped off at today, there were two slots in the DS section for Nintendogs, and both were completely empty. Either they hadn't gotten their stock yet (three days after Best Buy got it in, so I doubt that) or they sold out. I also didn't see any DSs in the case.

....aaaaaaand today two Lab games were sold, and I got a call in for the Dachsund version (that we sold out of yesterday). It was a really slow day overall though.

No one bought a DS with it though.

You know, you'd think if it was a huge seller, Nintendo would put out a press release bragging about it in a week or two.

We'll see I guess.

Dachsund and Lab sold out at my local EB, bought Chihuahua version there were tons of it poor chihuahuas nobody wants them

Meh, I ordered the Chihuahua version from dvdboxoffice 10 days ago, and they still haven't shipped it. They must have sold out every version of the game.

Did their survival instinct kick in, and did they start running? :lol

"Ew, even I found that in poor taste."

More anecdotal evidence for September sales:

I finally saw Nintendogs in a Wal-Mart two weeks ago, and the next time I went, they were sold out again. I just asked a Wal-Mart Electronics associate tonight if they were just not getting more stock or were selling out as soon as they got it in.

1. She said that they do get in new stock and it sells out almost immediately. She said, specifically, they got some in of all three versions last week and sold it very quickly.

2. She said a Nintendo rep told her that they sold 5 million in Japan ( :rolleyes ), and they expected to sell about the same here. She then said the rep told her that they had sold 25 million in the U.S. ( :lol ) (The only way I can make the U.S. number make sense is if the rep meant 25 million dollars, which would be over 800K games in the U.S. However, that doesn't jive with the Japanese number, so I say just ignore this part. ;) )

Anyways, this is hardly a thorough survey of Nintendogs sales, but I figure I'd share some more "anecdotal evidence." ;) My prediction would be about 350K sold in September for Nintendogs (450K, if they hadn't been sold out for the beginning of the month).

NPD for September comes out October 13th? 20th?

I haven't seen a Nintendogs at my local Wal-Mart since it came out, and I'm there almost once a weekend.

Hey, this thread!

We got some in stock last week. Have no clue if they've been selling. I know we sold the only used version we got in (Buy 2, get one free). I plugged in the demo on Friday again, and some 13 year old got his friend over to watch. "You have to see this! THIS IS SO COOL!" :lol

I can't believe Nintendogs is actually that hot an item. Nintendo must have intentionally undershipped it in hopes of the Doggies becoming this year's Furby.

Clever girl.

I thought this year's Furby was ... Furby.

I wonder how big a hit the Best Friends bundle will be vs. GTALCS.

While I understand your enthusiasm, I think that comparison is (apart from assured top-selling games per platform in the whole PSP/DS "battle") wholly inappropriate.

The demographics for each, once you get outside of hardcore gamers who play all good games, are way too the fuck different.

Though I'm sure a big stink will be made when one sells more than the other, regardless.

I don't think is that puzzling at all, I mean PSP has outsold the DS since launch and GTA is the biggest franchise this generation. No contest, really.

Not true whatsoever. GTA on PSP won't be doing what they did on PS2. It'll be a huge seller, but the Nintendogs bundle should also be huge. It's quite a contest, really. :P

I look forward to finding a Nintendogs Easter Egg in LCS, where you can fuck scantily-clad puppy whores and then kill them to get your money back.

You laugh now, but when you see that in the game, just remember where you saw it first.
