Is "only in dreams" weezer's best song?

btw, Green album sucks too. Come at me.

Who would argue against that? I waited for like 5 fucking years for this album, listened to shit tons of random MP3s that were believed to be from the Green Album (turned out to be mostly Ozma songs), bought the album at midnight release day, and boy this has always been a turd. A big stinky turd. I listened to 2 albums after the Green album but they were also turds. Weezer will forever be known to only have 2 great records and the band themselves should accept that. Who the fuck would wanna go see them play The Green Album all the way through? Maybe that chump Mikey who was their bassist for like 4 months and maybe his parents.

You spelt Burndt Jamb incorrectly

So right my dude...

Love that album and find it criminally underrated. That song, Take Control, Slave...all great.

Burndt Jamb, Good Life, My Name is Jonas, and Only in Dreams are probably my favorite Weezer songs but ask me next week and it'll probably change

I will go to bat for Maladroit every day of my life. It is an all time classic album that is massively overlooked. Green album is just like whatever though and after Maladroit everything is so forgettable it's not worth mentioning.

It's really not that great though. It's definitely better than green, make believe, etc, but it's not close to blue or Pinkerton.

It's their most beautiful song that's for sure. That base line, the pretty crescendo, the lyrics that every awkard nerd can relate to, truly a classic.

It's third for sure but it's still great and I don't consider it that far behind the others. It lacks the more emotional element of the other two albums though so I can see why it doesn't always appeal in the same way

I think The World Has Turned might be my favorite. But it's hard because I think Weezer has 6 great albums (Blue, Pinkerton, Green, Maladroit, EWBAITE, and White). Hurley is pretty good too imo. So basically that's a lot of material to draw from.

Someone pointed out to me that every song on the Green album has a guitar solo that's just the verse melody with no embellishments or variation whatsoever and it completely ruined the album for me. That's lazy as shit.

But unifyingly consistent. I don't think that's a favorite Weezer album for anyone, but I do enjoy over half of the songs on their own. Plus it's pretty short. Yeah, I like Green.

I'd replace the extended version of red with green, but you're right: They do have a lot of material. Even their awful albums have at least one good song. Like make believe has hold me and pardon me. Then there's all the demos and songs that never made it to an album. So yeah there's a lot to sift through. Just posting this made me listen to hold me and that song really hits me. Still stand by "only in dreams" though.

Yes. OP. It is. It's a time machine for me, bringing me back to when I was 13 and the blue album came out. What a masterpiece of a song. The way the guitar rocks towards the end gives me chills every time.

Yes. I really dislike Weezer but that song rules. I'm a sucker for epic closers, which a lot of modern punk bands do inexplicably well (not lumping Weezer in with them, but you can hear a lot of this song's influence in modern punk).

It's the first song on their first album and it's only mentioned 3 times and it took a page and a half before the first mention... I don't know what to do with you younger generations.

Would have also begrudgingly accepted The World Has Turned or Holiday.

It's probably the best closer song ever created on an album.

Fuck it's depressing that the Blue Album will never be surpassed by them. I even really liked Pinkerton, but nothing since then has come close.

First you'll have to find a group of people that even knows that song

It's almost as if this is coming from Mike Patton himself! A very small group of my friends/family sing the shit out of this song, every word and very loudly and very poorly and it's always the best time ever. But, I get your point </3

I'm gonna throw in an obscure one. Get Me Some. A strangely heavy Weezer song that was a bonus track on Raditude's deluxe edition almost no one has heard. Its goofy but great.

Blue Album as a whole is incredible though. Pinkerton needs a remaster, I hate the actual sound quality on that album.

Goddamn, Pinkerton is an awesome album. Has pretty much all my favorite Weezer tracks:

Tired of Sex
Across the Sea
The Good Life
Why Bother?
El Scorcho

It's weird for me to think that Weezer has two albums where I love basically every song, and then decades of making music that doesn't interest me in the slightest.

If im invited, next family bbq I'll by right there with you, arm in arm, singing along while creepily staring in your sister's eyes, "after the havoc, that I'm about to wreak..."
