Is Pokemon X and Y 60fps?

Nooo not even close. It seems like it's 30 fps most of the time, with occasional slight dips in battle. That's in 2D mode.

If you're playing in 3D mode, the framerate is god awful in battles. Like 10 fps.

hahahah no

This is the same dev that had dips in framerate in BW and BW2's double/triple battles.

As per GF philosophy, we get framerate dips even in single battles in the game.

I forgot about Horde battles. What a fucking joke.

I can't tell the difference between 60 and 30 fps, at all. Battles drop hard enough for me to cringe from time to time. Probably doesn't help that I keep 3D on.

Alright you guys are being dramatic. With 3D on in battles I'd say 25 or so most of the time with 15 dips.

Outside if battles I think 30, might be locked

Even in 2D I've noticed several times a few hickups during combat. Overall its fine enough, but its not perfect thats for sure.

Some of the Pokemon's animations are really smooth. If anyone has a Fletchinder, go and look at its Summary screen and watch it flapping away. Definitely looks like 60.

But, yeah, the framerate chugs in battles. You can just about feel the game's cogs turning in Horde Battles, too.

Nintendo has been on a roll with 60fps titles so is there biggest game 60fps?

Hah, no. It doesn't even sustain 30FPS. In 3D mode it gets pretty bad in battles, and even without it certain pokemon can cause the framerate to drop into the sub-30s slideshow mode for a second even in 2D.

What the fuck happened? Gamefreak's previous 3DS game, HarmoKnight, was pretty much locked at 60 fps, even in 3D mode. (The framerate had a few very minor dips during non-interactive sequences.) I understand Pokemon's overworlds are more taxing than Harmoknight's side scrolling levels are on the weak 3DS CPU, but in battle it shouldn't have had trouble getting the same performance.

dude. it's a turn based RPG... it doesn't need to be 60 fps. geez

Before gaf, I never knew people wouldn't play a game because it wasn't 60fps. If the game is fun, and the framerate isn't so bad that it's unplayable, why would anyone let that get in the way? I don't get it :/

LOL horde battles get interesting. Still, I love Gamefreak for making the jump to 3D graphics, but they have lots and lots of stuff to optimize. Hopefully for the 3rd installment...

Gotta gracefully animate Mega Charizard X's flowing fire tusks.

I am straight up loving the game but I have to clown Game Freak for having shitty programmers.

even in 2d the framerate stutters when it does the split portrait view in battle.

Game definitely needs more time in the oven. why else would the overworld have so many camera angles made to show off 3d, yet have no 3d?

wonder if they will do performance patches... lol.

In my experience it's only certain battle fields that cause massive frame rate drops in 3D. Some of them can be completely fine and cause no issues. Oddly enough, the more extravagant battle fields like in gym battles or whatever generally perform better than ones with 2D trees in the background...

When the battle fields aren't causing problems, the frame rate in 3D holds up well and only drops for certain moves or when some Pokémon switches are made.

In 2D the frame rate rarely ever drops. Only in battles with more Pokémon and big moves will cause it to dip, but not to the extent that it can dip when played in 3D.

In my personal opinion I honestly think that when the frame rate isn't dipping it's running near 60fps in battles, and definitely in menus. Everything looks fluid. I could be wrong, I probably am, but that's what it looks like to me. If not 60 then definitely above 30.

Outside of battles looks to be 30fps, both in 2D and in the areas that allow 3D.

Yeah, but let's get real. The frame slowdown in X/Y is very noticeable and gets annoying specially in Lumiose city

I actually haven't noticed any frame drops on the overworld outside of cutscenes. It's not a particularly high framerate, but it actually seems pretty stable.

Battles are where it fluctuates randomly at times.
