It was for staff members only, and I don't think it was that scandalous. From my understanding, there were staff-only discussion boards which I assume are common on every message board, and all the older staff members who had been around the longest sort of used it to hook up.

I think issues arose when they had a staff drive, and some younger members were promoted to staff, which means they had access to the 'secret sex forum'. And I think the problem was realized right away, and it was quickly removed. I don't think they were ever purposefully targeting underage members for that purpose---or, at least I hope so. And I think Pomfret really wasn't involved with the forum much at that point, and it was likely his decision to take down the 'secret sex forum' in fear of the problems it would cause, especially since he may or may not have sold Bulbagarden to HAVA Media.

Ok, sounds good. Apparently, you can only hotlink gifs up to 20MB, and everything beyond that will be converted to a h264 gifv, but that's reasonable enough. Gifs are crap anyway. Would be cool if GAF allowed the <video> element with autoplay, loop, and mute attributes for h264 videos.
