Is the version of Resident Evil 4 for PS3 worth buying?

With all the talk of the new HD version of Resident Evil 4 for PS4/XB1, I was feeling in the mood to try out this classic again. I haven't played part 4 since the ps2 days, I and don't have a ps4, so I was wondering if it's worth purchasing on the ps3. I've read some reviews about the graphical problems, but I don't own an HD tv, so I'm not sure if those problems would be as noticeable to me. If any of you could give me a list of pros and cons for this release, including framerate, controls, and content, it'd be much appreciated.

Abso-fucking-lutely

It has a few issues but it's still the same old Greatest-Game-of-All-Time

Do you have a Wii? If so pick up the Wii version.

If not then yeah pick up the PS3 version. It's a good port.

If you don't own an HD TV, you might just as well stick to the PS2 (or preferably, GameCube) version.

Nah, just skip the PS2 version if possible.

Played it on the PS3 about...2 years ago, maybe? It was part of my RE marathon.

Anyway, I felt it was pretty fine on the PS3~ go for it.

It's a barebones HD port with the same framerate issues the original GC version had in parts. It doesn't introduce any additional issues though, except for some missing shader effects, but they are gone in every version except GC and Wii.

It's certainly miles better than the PS2 port, and honestly, playing on an HD screen, it's also better than the Gamecube version.

Edit: Just saw you don't have an HD TV. Still a much better choice than playing the PS2 version, but in that case, considering your Mario avatar, you might just want to go for the Gamecube or Wii version.

They added them back in on the PC version.

Sure, that's what I'm doing as well (going with the PS3 version), the PS4 port seems to be getting mixed responses anyway, if you have it on PS3 already that's definitely good enough.

It's a fine port except for the sound quality which is compressed to hell and back for some reason like on PS2.

Also despite being in 720p I think it still looks a little rough around the edges, comparatively to the 360 version anyway. I played through it 100% recently and still enjoyed myself immensely, it's RE4 and the experience outweighs the technical issues.

Since you don't have an HDTV...
-If you only have a PS3, get it.
-If you also have a Wii (or Wii U) get that one.

If you've got no other means of playing it, then there's nothing wrong with playing it on PS3.

And it's not so terribly worse that you're missing out on anything by playing it there either. Still a great game on any platform.

The only truly bad version is the original PC release (not the Steam 2012 re-release).

People really think the wii version is the best?
Controls break the intended game play design and wii is sadly non HD, but a blurry mess for today standards.
Also, lol @ th speaker wiimote mono sfx.

If you don't own an HDTV then the best Re4 version by far is the Wii one. I'd rather you save money and buy an HDTV pronto. It's 2016 and you're a gaffer. How can you play games on an SDTV? The XB1 and PS4 won't even work if you're not on an HDTV! Get on that, stat!

I've played the PS3 version about 3 times already and I'd say its worth buying. No performance issues at all and its a pretty damn good port. Though if you have a Wii I'd say get that instead.

Being broke sucks all around. That's not to say though, that I don't have access to an hdtv. I just dont really care much for getting one as I'm mostly a retro gamer.

Eh, it is? I haven't seen a lot of negative about it, well outside the amount of effort put into it isn't as extensive as people would have liked, but I mean, that was expected.

It looks better but dat 60fps everybody loves has fucked it up, if you can live with reload animations running at the wrong speed and Weapon aim sway being accelerated to the point its like you are trying to sniper a pin miles while your on a bout at sea with high winds then its ok.

I thought the only animation that was weird was the rifle one? All the others look fine to me. And that other thing is hyperbolic as all fuck. I barely even notice that shit.

It doesn't effect you in the long run, but its there.
I've 88% accuracy currently, but I've had a lot of misses due to Leon's hand shakes, must think his holding a WiiMote
