Is there a name more associated with scumbaggery than Ray?

Dillon, Dylan, whatever other variants there are. Met a few in my life, they've all been terrible, terrible people

Robbie and Scott....trouble usually follows dudes with those names.

Girls....Yvette is always trouble...

On the flip side....every dude named Lenny/Leonard has been awesome.

If you're Lenny or Leonard then Brofist to you.

My Dad is a Ray. He's been good to me, but his attitude about things means I don't have a lot of time for him.

Don't date a Cynthia and expect something good to come out of it.

Don't date a Mitzi and expect to have a good time in bed.

Yeah, Ray's are scumbags, especially the ones who add the letters i and s at the end, they're even worse than douchebags.

From what I understand the name you are born with contributes to the success or failure you have later in life, so maybe there is something to naming your kids douchebag names.

Rich white people who are so insulated from reality that they think "Dick" is a perfectly marvelous contraction of Richard. It's a self fulfilling prophecy and a ticket to the Senate.

Interestingly the chapter about this in Freakonomics denies this in some ways, but uses an anecdote rather than stats.

Have you seen He Got Game?

Jesus Shuttlesworth was a HIGH level lowlife.

And he jumped on the team that beat his team's nutsack to win a ring.

I hate the Heat and the Celtics but that's bitchmade.

In Norway and Sweden, and perhaps other places too, there's a phenomenon called "y-names". People with names ending on y are overrepresented in prisons, and are more likely to be seen as troublemakers or unreliable than other people. Ronny is the name that's most often seen in prisons (for women, it's Anita). Tony, Roy, Benny, Freddy and so on are other y-names. There have been academic studies on this, but I don't know what they conclude with. Are the names themselves so negatively viewed, for some reason, that people with those names are "forced" into taking on the role as troublemakers? Another thing is that certain groups with negative reputations, such as travellers, give their boys y-names more often than other groups. This strengthens the negative associations those names have - maybe that's where the negative associations stem from in the first place.
