Is there a videogame press watchdog?

Yeah, there was. It was called Old Man Murray. But you ghat-damn child molesters didn't support them enough with your love. So, Chet and Erik died for our sins. Now they're in heaven writing games for a katamari-sized Gabe Newell.

RIP Seconds-To-Crate Review System.
RIP Return to Castle Wolfenstein Review.

Thank you, fellow old timer, for keeping the forgotten ways sacred. Seven years is an eternity on the internet where so many are quick to forget. And yet IGN and Avault still survive, the indignity of it all.

Unfortunately most of those watchdogs need watchdogs. When you have George Soros funding the watchdogs, you know you're in trouble there. Media Matters for instance, is a left wing organization that is more biased than MSNBC. It's like having the communist party of America as the watchdog of CNN. Media Matters is far more deceitful than any news organization that I'm aware of.

Personally with all media I think this nonsense of objectivity should just be thrown out the window. Anderson Cooper, Dan Rather, and Shepherd Smith can all stop pretending they don't have an opinion. We all know that Cooper and Rather have never voted for a Republican, and that Smith has never voted for a Democrat. That's as important to me as what they're reporting on. Isn't it better if we know where people stand on an issue that they're reporting about, instead of pretending that they're objective? Objectivity is bullshit. Nobody is 100% objective.

And therein lies the problem with any watchdog, they have opinions too and are even less responsible than the new organizations they are supposedly watching over. As I said earlier, it's best to find a group of people you trust/have the same taste as you, and then follow them.

Red Stripe, fast food, and a MadWorld T-shirt? What a fucking man.

I know one good example of some shitty ass journalism was when *a banned website* posted that the new R&C future game might be a downloadable PSN game before even contacting Insomniac for confirmation and there was a ton of confusion because of that.

I have an idea, why not I don't know, ask Insomniac about if R&C Future ACiT was PSN or retail before posting an article about it, especially when it's one easy fucking question that they will answer.

Well, there was an attempt, although I never had the impression GAF took it very seriously. There was a self-appointed Video Game Ombudsman (Kyle Orland) and at some point he merged his site with another and the result is "Video Game Media Watch" (http://www.vgmwatch.com/). I haven't kept up with it or read it, but I know the intent is to critically review the video gaming press... whether it does that or not is a different story, but the attempt has been made in some circles.

Does the mainstream press have a watchdog? Because last I checked it's not doing a very good job.

There's lots of media watchdogs out there. The problem is, probably 100% of them are partisan.
