I really would like to use an 8bitdo wireless controller on my Playstation 5 for RPGs. I like Retro style controllers for rpgs. I'm guessing I'll need an adapter to make this possible?

There is a company currently in the process of rolling out a special device to bypass these restrictions, but it is super expensive, $150, and it's a Chinese company. I pre-ordered mine, cost me $170 total.

I am unfamiler with 8bitdo specifically, so not sure if there is a way to connect them, DM me and I will look into it when I get mine, but it'll likely be several more weeks, they have not shipped out the device yet.

I purchased a 8bitdo Pro 2 controller myself, been using it for switch, android and my steam games ever since. I personally havent found a way to make it work on PS5 yet.

They are truly solid and I find them pleasant to look at.

Also I have the 8bitdo SNES30 controller with the orange "brick" USB connector. It works on everything on the Switch, except the SNES or NES libraries. It's just dead when you open those apps. Sorry for hi-jacking.

A shame they don't allow at least using official DS4 for PS5 games.

And at the very least, for player 2. I'm not buying another PS5 controller for coop when there are like 3 PS4 controllers sitting around.

No, Sony is very strict with DualSense protocols to prevent cheating hardware like Chronus and Xims from being used in PS5 games.

Perhaps, but it's a bit pricey, and it may add some latency. I'd have to see a video of some scientific testing to be sure how much, but I'd guess that it wouldn't matter with most RPGs.

There aren't a whole lot of reviews of this controller yet, so I can't speak for its quality or reliability. I'm also not sure if it can do wireless or not, but it's supposed to work with pretty much any PS4 controller.
