Is there really only one really good 3D platformer on 3DS?

The truth is aside from Mario, 3D platformers have been pretty much dead for years.

We can see a tendency for them to hopefully return with big names like Yooka-Laylee, A Hat in Time, Psychonauts 2 and somr smaller indie titles being produced.

If you own a Vita OP, you have some more options to consider across native Vita games, PSP titles and PS1 titles:
-Tearaway (Vita)
-Ratchet Collection (Vita)
-Sly Collection (Vita)
-Sly 4: Thieves in Time (Vita)
-Jak Collection (Vita; Only consider this if you can deal with bad frame rates)
-Daxter (PSP)
-Dead Head Fred (PSP)
-Death Jr. II (PSP)
-Jak & Daxter: The Lost Fronter (PSP)
-Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters (PSP)
-Secret Agent Clank (PSP)
-Toy Story 2 (PS1)
-Pac-Man World (PS1)
-Gex 2 & 3 (PS1)
-Crash/Spyro (PS1; Only if you are in EU/JP PSN)

A lot of older games and few new ones (not to mention sometimes mixed quality) but most of the games I listed are good/great and play fantastically on Vita. Never expected to have such a collection of platformers to dive into when I got my Vita, my favorite game genre XD!

Regarding the main topic, the only 3D platformers I can think of for the 3DS (3DS and DS games) are the following:
-3D Land (3DS)
-Rayman 3D (3DS)
-Sonic Lost World (3DS)
-Jet Rocket 2 (3DS)
-Mario 64 DS (DS)
-Tak the Great Juju Challenge (DS)

I hear Rayman 3D is good, but not sure about having to homebrew to play it properly.

Sunshine's markedly better than 3D Land. Sunshine is flawed, has tons of padding, but 3D Land represents a homogenization of 3D Mario, AND has padding on top of all of that.

You just explained why 3D Land is markedly better than Sunshine.

Just wait until you see the people try to convince you it's not a 3D Mario!
Or did that only apply to 3D World?

It applies to both, mostly to 3D World, and it only goes to the bottom from there, oh, and don't even think of mentioning the NSMB games like ever.

Bah, totally forgot the 3d requirement, my bad. But the game has glaring performance issues. As re whether it's a platformer, let's say it's non-traditional.

Sonic has been considered a platforming franchise for 25 years and Generations is typical Sonic though. I don't understand how it could be seen as not a platformer, or non-traditional.

The Delusions of Von Sottendorff and His Square Mind is a 3D puzzle-platformer (but it doesn't skimp on the platforming) and I rather like it. I haven't finished it yet, but so far its pretty good, and I can unreservedly rave about its great soundtrack.

its one of those hidden gems on the eShop that doesn't get nearly enough attention (and probably sales for that matter).

And I don't understand how I never heard of this. It definitely looks interesting.
