Is there some sort of internet contest for fapping to unappealing things?

I know the thread title is absolutely wtf, but I didn't know how else to ask this.

I'm confused by what seems to be a common meme or trend where people will find something disgusting or weird or unappealing and then act like they have to fap to it.

Or when you go to a YouTube video that is really gross or just totally down the rabbit hole and a top-rated comment will be like "I tried, but I couldn't fap to this" or something like that.

Am I missing something? Does this stem from people actually enjoying to fap to things they don't like? I don't recall how this became a "thing" but I see it every once in a while on the internet and I just don't get it. Are people trying to fap to the grossest thing they can possibly find? This has been bugging me for a while

You know, the fap meme doesn't always literally mean masturbation. It can just mean something excites you.

I think it's only a figure of speech. If it's nice, beautiful or amazing then you could say that you'd masturbate to it. If it's quite the contrary then of course you would not.

At least I hope that's the case.
 
There's a quota on how many times you should masturbate per day and they're trying to reach it by any means necessary.
 
I masturbated to this story so many times.
When I was little I used to lie down on the couch and put my head on my moms lap as she would caress my hair. I could smell her vag through her clothes. It was the worst fishy/urine smell ever. But it was usually worth it because the stroking of my hair and her comfy lap felt nice.

I'm not sure how you can think this is anything but a joke. It's humor man. You're supposed to find it amusing not troubling. PM me if you need help understanding sarcasm and satire and I will see if I can help you out.
 
The joke is not that something is unappealing, but that it is appealing, against all logic.

That joke is excitement to the point of arousal.
 
I think it's based on some of the wacky fetishes that exist out there. So things that would seem generally disgusting to most people are exciting to others. The meme points out the fine line between fetish and disgusting I guess.

I didn't find it troubling so much as wondering what it was or where it came from.
 
you're over thinking it.

I look at it more like, "another boner inducing content?........ Fiiiiiiiine, I guess I'll fap to this"

It's a simple joke, you're treating it as more of a chore than pleasure.
 
masturbation sometimes truly does make one blind.

it has happened to me a few times that i was masturbating to a girl i thought had the right amount of curves in all the right places only to find out she was in fact a fat girl. of course, you only realize this after you're done.
 
Jokes aside (take it with a grain of salt because it's from the internet), I've heard of people that is fed up with fapping to X, so they move onto another thing that tickles its lust.

I'm pretty sure it goes into a downward spiral containing sick or disgusting things that no one in their right mind would find exciting, but I could be wrong.
 
It's a joke. People aren't actually masturbating to those things.

Also that picture in the OP doesn't mean what you think.
