Is this the best video game ad ever?

Great commercial that captures the feeling very well.

I feel very fortunate that most of my childhood friends are still around and even though everyone have jobs, married and kids, we still find the time to put everything aside once a week to talk and play some games. We set up a LAN party yesterday for example and spent like 6 hours playing Quake 3, Warcraft 3, Flatout and Goldeneye Source.

Simply brilliant. Brought back a lot of great memories of playing PES with my older brother. PES3 on the PS2 being my favourite in the series.

Omg the feels, playing this game as a kid with other kids from the neighbourhood that paid to play with our playstation.
Drastical measures were needed because we were on a recession, so I always had to let other people play with my console, imagine how heart breaking that can be for a kid.

However, they wanted me to play some co-op game, as I watched silently while they laughed their asses off playing winning eleven I learned to play it like no one else.

So much fun had while my parents fought to make ends meet. So many hours invested in virtual football. Those were the best times of my childhood.
Damn, that brings a tear to my eye: "Do you want to play too?" they said, every time.

Well that's made me just a little bit nostalgic for my uni gaming days!

Burchet and Castello, so good. Goodbye old friends...

No kidding. I did a year in Japan and played winning eleven with my roommates all the time. And I knew nothing about soccer lol.

Hard to really compare. This is more akin to a short film. The other is formatted to play as a :30 TV commercial.

The 30 second version of this wouldn't be near as effective.

Without the song, that Gears ad would be nothing. This goes deeper and I'd argue even with a :30 spot, it would hit much closer to home.

I was on the ISS 64 camp so it doesn't hit as close but still remember doing pretty much the same back then with friends :)
Great ad!

What a beautiful ad, bring back many memories of my and my friends playng all night with the various soccer games, most of them from Konami.

And what a game Winning Eleven 4, probably the best soccer game ever.

And a legend like Roberto Baggio too, wery well done ad Konami.

What generations after us will miss out on...

Damn that first ad just thought of everything, even hiding your controller for penalties - needed someone to walk past the TV at the most inopportune time to make it perfect...

Damn, that was me and my friends in college over a decade ago, perfect.

Damn effective ad, brilliant. I didn't believe, OP. I should have believed.

Right in the nostalgia feels! I never even played Winning Eleven but it got me thinking about the golden age of couch co-op/multiplayer games. Maybe that's why I love fighting games so much.

Great ad. I don't even play sports games, but I have to admit that put a smile on my face.

I must agree on this. This commercial truly embodied my life as a gamer, looking back at what my gaming experience has been along side the PlayStation brand.

I'm 31, I grew up playing a little bit of NES and Genesis, but felt in love with gaming when the first PlayStation came out, playing Tekken with friends and enjoying my first JRPG with Final Fantasy 6.

I like the message of the commercial and felt as excited as the dude in it when booting up the PS4 for the first time. Boy, did Sony understood the target when they started marketing around the PS4 because it had the same effect on all my friends around me.

Pretty cool, but way too long for a videogame ad. It almost seemed like at first I was about to watch a Korean styled thriller that's been pretty popular over the last decade.

Wow for real. Pretty darn amazing for a commercial. Mark me down as someone who feels like this reminds them of college.

Ad in the op is really good. I gotta say though, it makes me sad. The juxtaposition of playing games as a young person with friends with the reality of the playing newer versions of the same games (now alone) as an adult, and wishing you remembered how to have as much fun... a little depressing.
