I've played through X, X2 and X3 and I don't recall X being referred to by anyone as Megaman, or Megaman X even...just X.

Edit: Also, the comic doesn't even make sense. I thought the new Mega Man came on PSP was a port of the NES Megaman 1, not Megaman X? MM1 and MMX are two completely different games.

Important Note: This game is not Mega Man 9. Not even the Japanese version. Don’t believe all of the ROM download sites. If the game was Mega Man 9 it would say so on the box and title screen. Trust me on this one.
