Isn't it time to bring back Vagrant Story?

I'm not interested in Vagrant Story as a brand. I am interested in it because of Matsuno and his team who created a unique and compelling experience. So I'm not really seeing a need to bring this back unless the same elements are aligned.

Word.

I'm with you. Vagrant Story is one of my favorite games ever (I even went to the ultra nerd level of getting the Rood tattoo on my back), but I don't think anything short of bringing back the entire original team would justify a sequel.

That said, I definitely want more Ivalice games. And I could totally go for another game using the targeting system the surfaced first in Parasite Eve 1 and was one of VS' more unique gameplay offerings.

Back when it first came out, I really thought we'd see a sequel given how obviously the game suggests one.

edit: I'd settle for an FF7 PS4-type experience (the port, not the upcoming remake).

Fired it up again earlier today, and I still think it's a masterpiece, but if they're going to do a remaster/remake, they'd better come up with a completely new battle system.
That music, though...

I've always wanted a Final Fantasy Tactics\Vagrant Story mash up. I want a tactics game with 3d models and be able to aim for which body part you want to attack. Ever since playing VS back in '00 I've wanted Matsuno to merge these two games together.

Vagrant Story is one of my favorite games of all time, but I don't think I'd want a sequel at this point. There's no way it would stay faithful to the original because Square would want to maximize its target audience.

I'm a fan of the game.
However, the game has one of the most confusing and obtuse system ever created. I'm pretty sure most player never got to really play that game.

If they bring it back, I hope SE will either rework the weapon system or write a very comprehensive in-game tutorial. Even then, I'm not sure there is that much of an audience really. If I was in marketing, I would change the name of the game completely.

My thoughts exactly. It would not translate well to modern audiences. I've been meaning to replay it, but I lent out my copy and the person never returned it. What's the easiest way to play it in 2017? I still have a PS2 hooked up to a CRT.

I downloaded it on Vita, and that's a great place to play it. It'd be awesome if we could get Playstation Games on Demand somewhere, seeing as how emulators exist to play it.

But a return? Nah, probably not.

The only way I could support this is if Matsuno is involved. Otherwise I don't think it's a good idea.

I don't really get the relation to the Dark Souls games. Vagrant Story is quite different as far as gameplay is concerned, and in the event that Square-Enix decides to develop a new entry, it would be disappointing if they produced a competing product.

I'm not opposed to new entries taking place within Ivalice, but I have very little faith in Square-Enix's ability to make a worthy successor to Vagrant Story.
