*Itagaki takes off his sunglasses and looks at his game with his own eyes*At the very least we would have a got a better protagonist if he took your advice!
"What?! Those are tattoos, not spots! I wanted the hero to be half-man, half-Dalmatian!"

Basically, I wonder what inspired such a busy yet bland character design.*Itagaki takes off his sunglasses and looks at his game with his own eyes*

Itagaki felt there weren't enough beefy bald protagonists in videogames. It's a breakthrough for the industry. Character design to the next level.Basically, I wonder what inspired such a busy yet bland character design.
This guy is the Japanese John Romero...
More like "where there's concentrated flames licking your face"
Itagaki has too much machismo to admit his vision didn't translate into reality well.
He definitely sounds like a forum poster who would always say "don't look at reviews, play the game for yourself!".I hate it when Devs, creators, PR, or publisher's make claims like this. If your game really is gong to be something great then keep quiet, work on and release your game, and let the fanboys, critics, and regular fans do the hype and smack talking.
Nope, Itagaki is much machismo, he oozes it and in a specific case it was to his detriment. And you're confusing amusement with butthurt for whatever reason.Itagaki's a showman, not someone with too much "machismo". This is the guy that cried during Armageddon after all.
I think it's great that years later, past all the Tekken and DOA stuff, he's still making people that don't understand he plays up a character this butthurt.
There is a 10 minute video up on eshop where Itagaki explains single and multiplayer aspects of the game. Worth watching even if just for amusement value.
OH NOES THERE ARE BLURRY TEXTURES IN SOME SPOTS
Guys can we just play the game before jumping to conclusions? Gameplay looks fun, we have no reason to believe this will be a bad game.
What? The gameplay looks fucking atrocious.
except for all the previews that said it basically wasOH NOES THERE ARE BLURRY TEXTURES IN SOME SPOTS

The gameplay looks fine if inoffensive. It looks like a cross between ninja gaiden and MGS4.
I hope that this game sells at least within their expectations. Seems that they worked pretty hard on the game.

i havent followed this at all.
when is it supposed to come out and on what platforms?
You know, I expect people to come in and call Itagaki out on this quote, but he's right. Devil's Third is probably one of the greatest looking video games I have ever seen. It'll definitely move a ton of Wii U's off shelves.

This is what happens when you never take off those sunglasses. It's like the opposite of They Live glasses. Bet with those, Big Rigs looks like a masterpiece.

To be fair, the budget for a game that's been in development for seven years and has gone through four different engines is probably nothing to scoff at.I honestly don't expect anything revolutionary. If it achieves a status of "Good for it's budget", I'd say that's a roaring success, and hopefully indicative of a return to the mid-tier gaming that's fallen out in years past.
I fear for Itagaki after the release of this game... So much time and money spent, and I just can't see it doing well.
I hope it proves me wrong, and does very well.

In fact it looks like a dudebro mod for Metal Gear Rising.
They added an ugly first person pov for guns and a ugly new model for Raiden and call it a day expecting a profit.
Not even close to mgr.
He'll be fine he'll make mobile and will have enough success to keep working.I fear for Itagaki after the release of this game... So much time and money spent, and I just can't see it doing well.

As long as the multiplayer delivers, I'll buy this game based on that alone. As far as I know, people haven't played it yet.
Someone should make this award thread. Like pronto.Yeah, MGR was a GOTY contender. Devil's Third will be a Bargain Binner of the Year contender.
That is also true, but based on Itagaki's statement, it seems that they worked really hard and tried their best to make the game a reality with what they had. It doesnt seem that the game was "half assed" made intentionally to save money that they could have spent on the game or anything like that. So for their own sake, i hope that their work will at least pay a bit off.i think we should always reward a product/service based on its quality and not the amount of effort put into it.
A failed project is a failed project. Just because hundreds put alot of effort into it doesn't negates the fact that it is still a failed project.
