It's disgusting that we might not see an F-Zero GX sequel

I will ask him and get back to you. More of his WR videos ("Mad Andy") are here by following the link to the "world records" list and videos:

Thanks.

Action Replay FTW

I've never used any type of cheat code thingy. I don't think I'll start now.

MrSardonic said:

Yeah I'll try that. Btw, snaking makes you go fast as hell but it's hard not to hit into the walls and it hurts your wrist. I tried it last week in time trial and I couldn't do it any longer than one race.

there was 10, I was never good enought to beat number 10.

No, it was 8 or 9. Story Mode is too hard. I beat it on the regular difficulty and nothing else.

That music in those posted videos is awesome!!

I <3 F-Zero GX :D
It's my favourite game of last gen. I put so much practice into that game.

F-Zero GX is without a doubt, the best futuristic racer of all time and definately in the Top 5. The tracks, the graphics, the music, the sense of speed, everything about this game is near perfection.

By the way, can anyone tell me the song that's played during cutscene before the start of the third mission in story mode?

See, other people like F-Zero GX just as much as I do. It's perfectly ok to like X more, but preferring GX does not make you a graphics whore. *cough* DRAGONA *cough*

Er, I dunno... Eartbound basically plays like an even more dumbed down Dragon Quest, and that game wasn't exactly rocket science to start with. I'm not really sure how anyone who claims to put gameplay first and foremost would have Eartbbound anywhere near their top ten, if not for rose colored goggles. Even something like Pokémon should rank higher going by gameplay alone. ;)

See for me, one of the most integral parts of RPGs is storyline - because it's always such a central fact of life in these games. So 'gameplay' wise, although obviously in the strict sense it's not gameplay, i consider the dialogue and story to have a HUGE influence in what makes these titles go from zero to hero.

For the gameplay, it had a lot of neat ideas - like enemies dying automatically if you're a certain level so you don't have to waste time fighting it, neat little status effects that have cool field influences, etc - but it's not #1 in the world. But if you add the incredible story and dialogue which is STILL some of the best for me to this day, that's what puts it on top.

So you're technically correct, in a gameplay sense Earthbound would be significantly lower on my list, but for RPGs I can't disconnect story from gameplay and other aspects. It's so vital for me.

OK i've made 2 videos on Multiplex using Fire Stingray. This first one is using only the L+R turn described in the instruction booklet:

http://www.savefile.com/files.php?fid=2075663

This second one is using only the Quick Turn which I described here - http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3745803&postcount=123 - and is 10 seconds faster. I'm taking the corners very wide to make it clear how the turn is different to the L+R turn in the first video:

http://www.savefile.com/files.php?fid=7547249

You can see that this type of turn is faster and lets you corner at higher speeds. In this video, if I am turning right (L+R+right), I am pressing L only very lightly and for a fraction of a second before releasing it. Well worth learning this type of turning because you'll be able to handle any machine in the game at almost any speed :D

Start using the Quick Turn and you will beat all the difficulty levels. Also when diving from jumps make sure to press forward all the way and then pull back to level out the machine just before you land.

Snaking takes a little time to get good at and it is meant as an "expert" technique...eventually you stop hitting walls :D. If you keep your hands relaxed then they won't hurt...and you also need to be using the correct machines for it to work best - stuff like Black Bull and Fat Shark (and several custom machines).

The only thing keeping me from getting better at this game is my contact lenses drying up when I play. Also, don't even bother with the wavebird. I came back to this game after a few months and tried playing with the wavebird and its impossible. Is anyone bitching about the floaty controls using a wavebird, hmm?

I'll start using the quick turn. I already knew how to control on jumps.

Yeah, I used Black Bull when I tried. Do you have to fully press the L+R buttons until they click when snaking or can you just press it softly?

Try out some other machines - Fat Shark, Tornado Condor V2, Tornado Glider V2

With snaking, you basically alternate between right+R and left+L. Normally you would hold right/left all the way and R/L all the way down. Don't worry about pressing L+R together unless you find the snaking pattern breaks down, which means that you are not changing fast enough from right+R to left+L etc.

Well you are in before, NO TILT WIIX PLZ :lol
F Zero WiiX should be played with 2 wiimotes like an airplane yoke. It'd be exactly like piloting an F Zero racer.

F Zero GX is the current pinnacle of arcade racing games. It has the perfect difficulty, perfect track design, perfect sensation of speed and the perfect sense of character. Nothing can touch it. Not Wipeout's DR cool, music and Mario Kart-esque gameplay. Not F Zero X's sparseness, track editor and shitty, over long track design. Not Burnout's polish, hilarity and awesome crashes. Not even Daytona's brilliance. Nothing.

If you haven't been able to at least unlock the AX tracks in this game, you are not a hardcore gamer. You are merely in your gaming infancy.

only to get started. But because snaking machines have the settings bar pushed all the way to the left (0%) they slide very easily, so once you've go into 1 slide all you have to do is alternate between right+R and left+L without pausing between these actions. Snaking is just one basic aspect of the most advanced form of GX racing.

I'll make you guys a little video of the different effects of the basic turns in GX (non-snaking), using normal machines, and a simple way to use the engine on/off technique. Tell me what machine you would like demoed and on what course and I will do it some time today. Hopefully this will help some of you beat the game on the harder settings
Bio Rex/Big Fang please :). Oh and for the track: Sonic Oval and one really difficult and curvy track of your choice.

I agree with this thread, this game is near perfection, its a pity nobody I know ever wants to play it because they're casual gamers and shit at it.

My brother prefers Extreme G 3, simply because of the Coop-Championship.

So I want these improvements:

- Coop Championship, better Multiplayer in general
- Onlinemode with ingame Leagues, Quick Races, Championships on several "Skill Levels"
- Track editor
- even more customizeable Vehicles, online Junkyard and own shop where you can sell your Courses, Ships, Decals and Parts. (connect 24: Your shop is viewable all the time and when someone wants to buy a part, he can send a request or buy a track right away. Could work for many other games as well.)
- one hand Wiimote control: http://youtube.com/watch?v=F-K00Ogksnk&search=F-Zero

I like it too, but that's the snaking bug which caused that speed.

yeah those are some of the snaking world records. Snaking isn't a bug, it is a technique in the game (along with many others) put there by AV for the expert players. You can't use it alone...it has to be linked with all the other techniques like L+R turns, MT, MTS, shift boosting, DBD, MBD etc.

The spaceflying/shortcut skipping was the bug in the game.

I know the technique to snake. What I meant was do you press the triggers all the way down until they click or can you just softly tap them when you're trying to snake.
