Never liked 'em, due to the oatmeal cookie. When I was a kid, I used to just eat the ice cream and chocolate, then throw away the soggy oatmeal cookie. Would be better if it was a chocolate chip, or just plain chocolate cookie.

However, while it may be on a stick, THIS is the best!

I absolutely hate white ice cream like that in the op, as it usually taste like nothingness and is only there to serve as a texture. Can't say I wouldn't like the ice cream sandwich, but it's a pretty good shot in the dark that I won't. Slap some kind of vanilla ice cream or something in there...

I've gotten pretty good at making homemade ice cream, and this gives me a new project to work on. I have some ideas...

It's it is where it's at. The choco one is too sweet I think. I like the cappuccino mint as well. Chip its are awesome.

Didn't know till recently (few years ago) there is an outlet store near my place. from time to time i'll pick up a box of assorted it's it brand goodies:

super sundae
big daddy
big daddy dipped
Super Cone

range from $1-$2.50 and if bought in doz, more discount. Good stuff!

I initially thought so as well, but it seems to me like an oatmeal cookie has the thickness and milk- and condensation-repulsion capabilities we need to make this work.

Also, to the NYC folk: there are amazing ICSs there, but I always get them comp at various events (it's the latest thing) so I have no idea how to find them.
 
Mmm... Don't see much of these in the UK apart from the Haagen Daz one. They made me want to move to the US when i first went when i was a kid.
 
It's funny, as despite the fact that I can basically have a ice cream sandwich in several places around the Bay Area (I'm fond of C.R.E.A.M. in Berkeley because it's cheap as hell), nothing beats an It's It.

Haven't had one in ages, but mint is my go-to flavor - though I do need to try the cappuccino flavor one of these days.

Always avoided It's Its., but now that I think about it they were probably some knockoff brand. Always saw a sign for them on 101 I think. I like Carnation ones though. Had a cookie ice cream sandwich at a Nestle's once and that shit was nasty.

You oatmeal cookie haters are dead to me. I love oatmeal cookies. Even though I broke a tooth in half the last time I ate one, they're so good, I can't hold a grudge.

Klondike bars are shit, by the way.
 
Diddy Riese is amazing; I go there on a weekly basis. The appeal isn't just because the sandwiches taste like heaven; it's the plethora of options--the peanut butter ice cream enclosed in chocolate cookies is soooooooooo good.

Cream is Berk's obvious response to UCLA's Diddy Riese -- cookie ice cream sandwiches for $1.50. They make it with Double Rainbow ice cream too, but the cookies are from frozen dough IIRC. Wasn't crazy about it the last time I went. The cookies are too warm and your ice cream ends up melting all over the place.

And if you want your cookies and your ice cream separately to prevent the inevitable melt-age, they charge you full price for both. :/ They charge me more money for doing less arm work. I don't get it.

I think I'll stick with my generic rectangular ice cream sandwiches...
 
It is 11 in the morning and I am considering going to get like 6 ice cream sandwiches and eating all of them. GAF wants me to be fat.
 
You know, I've had a lot of highfalutin' ice cream sandwiches in my life. Good Neapolitan ice cream on fresh waffles is pretty amazing (also probably 1200 calories). Some of the custom sandwiches in this thread look incredible.

But nothing beats an It's It.

P.S. What kind of ice cream sandwich did you guys THINK Android 4 was? It's an It's It!
 
This thread just reminded me that I had It's Its in my freezer, and for that, I'd like to thank the OP.

Grew up with these things, they were always the go-to choice when allowed to get something at 7-11. Now they're showing up in supermarkets around here, which is awesome.

Yeah, there are other sandwiches out there, but It's It just gets so many things right...oatmeal cookies are by far the superior cookie to use. The same goes for dark chocolate, and real sugar ice cream that is both soft and good enough to be enjoyed on its own, which is rare for a packaged frozen treat.


I just miss the Strawberry ones...
 
It's-Its are amazing. Something about the oatmeal cookie trumps all other cookies for ice cream sammiching, and the ice cream they use is just soft enough. Throw on a coat of chocolate paint and nommm. Personally, I prefer the mint variety.

The sad thing they don't allow tours of their factory.
 
klondike bars are fucking nasty, its boring vanilla covered in bad chocolate why eat it when there are so many better tasting alternatives.

And yes, Diddy Riese are the best icecream sandwiches ever. The succulent soft cookie dough mounting a core of fattening, buttery icecream is an experience that to date stands unrivaled.

How I miss getting 2 ice cream sandwiches there after class, then running down to U-Dog to get 2 sausages for a grand total of 4 bucks.

I've had plenty of It's-It ice cream sandwiches in my life. I literally live 3 minutes away for their factory and see it every time I get on and off the freeway by my house.

If you are ever in need to change things up, OP, they also come in the flavors chocolate, cappuccino, and mint (my favorite).
 
I went to San Francisco public school from grade school through high school.

You had three options for lunch:

Hot lunch (stand in line for 45 minutes, eat quick, get back to class)
Packed lunch (parents refused to make me this, eventually made my own in highschool)
Beanery (minimal line, but they only had hostess shit, chips and It's Its)

I got about $3 a day for lunch, and ate at the beanery. I ate so many fucking It's Its growing up that I can't even look at the things any more.

Also, in reflection, I can't believe how unhealthy the cold "food" offered at SF public schools was. It was all literally sugar/fried snack stuff.
