My top 10 in no particular order

Armour of God
Drunken Master 2 (Legend of Drunken Master)
Project A
Wheels on Meals
Police Story
Police Story 2
Police Story 3 (Supercop)
Dragons Forever
Heart of Dragon
Crime Story

Thanks!

It feels like when a kid in your class finds out santa claus and the tooth fairy aren't real so they want the other kids to suffer from the reality that's been dropped onto him/her.

Or maybe we just don't want an asshole to be representative of our culture.

Thanks, would these run on an EU/UK PS4 though?

The HKL discs will but Fortune Star/IVL discs will not due to the region coding.

HKL went out of business a while ago so some of their discs can go for quite a bit because they're considered the best western releases.

Home video releases of Hong Kong movies can be a mess, which is a big reason they are so widely bootlegged. When I first got into them, I bought Tai Seng's VHS version of Drunken Master 2. It was in Cantonese, but the subtitles were English/Chinese burnt in and pretty much impossible to follow, and the movie was split onto 2 tapes (one duped from each side of a laserdisc) so Tai Seng could charge more - I paid $80 for it.

Santa Claus and Tooth Fairy are fictional characters who have not done some shady harmful stuff to other real humans. But ok, sorry to make you suffer.

Favourite movie is Wheels on Meals, fight scene the one with Benny the Jet

Also Twin Dragons is a guilty pleasure

Not a huge fan of most of his American work, but do you know what? I still watch watch them anyway for the Amazing Stunt Work, how can you not love that? Even if the American Directors don't understand how to shoot the scenes right.

Love Jackie Chan as a Martial Artist / Actor but as a human being he sounds bad. Oh well will still enjoy his movies *shrug*

And happy bday son

Absolute moron of a man. Much like many of the action gods though

Still prolly the best action star imo.

Give him a birthday audit haha

I like Twin Dragons too, it's dopey but fun. And it is interesting to play "spot that guy" as the cast is packed with tons of 80s and 90s HK stars, and even some directors as well.

I think most of his stunts don't look as good in his US pictures because 1) he is a lot older and 2) the union/safety regulations are way tougher in the US than HK, where they're basically non-existant. There was an interview with Jackie on the DVD for Rush Hour where he says the little stunt of him jumping over the fence into the diplomat's mansion would have been one take in HK but it took hours in America because they had to have padding put down, EMT on standby, etc.

The best action movie star of all time. And second place isn't even close.

Police Story 1 is the best action movie ever made.

Shoot back in the 90's that was the version I had watched; my dad rented the same dual vhs edition of DM2 you mentioned, the only time I've seen it uncut, and yeah the white subtitles were really hard to read at times but man it was the greatest thing I've even seen.

I spent 40 bucks to get drunken Master two on a trip in high school. That was my money to eat for the remaining three days of the trip. So I lived on ketchup packets and the awesomeness of that entire final fight sequence. I regret nothing.

Damn, that's two souls Bruce Lee claimed with his ass kickings. Thank God Kareem Abdul-Jabbar made it through virtually unscathed.

Anyhoo, his movies are still awesomes, so Happy Birthday, Detective Lee?

Since china is 12 hours ahead of America..

Which day is his actual birthday and technically of its the date he was born in china by the time you start celebrating what you feel is actual, it's already over.

Bookmarking this thread for later. I really need to go through a lot of his movies. He's a great guy, happy birthday Jackie

I wish there was a filmography of all his movies out there that weren't pirated fakes.

Ironically, there is a fan initiative (which I liken to the Star Wars despecialized project) to make some of his old HK films available in proper HD, Cantonese audio, and English subs. So, apparently the bootlegs are the best available versions of some of his films. Case in point, Drunken Master II, which doesn't even HAVE a Cantonese version with English subs aside from an obscure OOP DVD that's otherwise fairly low quality.

Damn I might give in and buy those shady looking DVD sets.

well, at least sometimes his terrible behavior has been entertaining(video of him drunkingly crashing a concert stage).

I really can't think of anyone who's ever worked harder for my entertainment then Jackie Chan. And because of Jackie Chan, I got into international film in general, which greatly shaped not only my taste in culture but my worldview as well. So yeah, I'll always be on team Jackie, even knowing that he's a deeply, tremendously flawed person.

As a HongKonger, I hate him. I know people like his old movies. He was a good martial art actor. But these years he had said many stupid things. The worst part is people think we like him, or think he is a idol for HongKonger.

Eg: "If I have to buy a TV, I'll buy the one made in Japan, because the one made in China will explode."
And then Iirc, he said the one that made in Japan can also explode during a interview in China after some years later.

He'll put his face on almost any product, in China you'll see him endorsing so many products as you walk round the supermarket.

Happy b-day to one of the most charasmatic actors of all time.

Can someone recommend good blurays of his movies? Namely Drunken Master and his other Hong Kong flicks

Shame the video games that starred or featured him may never get released on current gen systems :/
