Sat on my porch for two and a half hours scaring the crap out of trick-or-treaters (the lighting was of course quite different). Honestly can't remember the last time I had that much fun.

My daughter wanted to be a pink and purple bat. Grandma delivered. Back of the costume is my favorite part.

I went as Spider Jerusalem. We did more Halloween-y stuff over the weekend, so I'm less made up in this shot from last night since I was too lazy to reshave and put my tattoos back on. Still probably the best shot, though.

That's the thing about costumes like this. You do constantly have to explain it to people.

But, man, when somebody recognizes it and gets really excited about it, you *know* you did well.

I know exactly what you mean. I did something similar many years ago, and just when I thought I should change it up so people would stop asking me, someone recognized the character/joke and I felt like I made a new best friend.

What's funny about it is I can't even remember what the costume was, just the experience of meeting someone who got it.

Not really much going on for halloween around here yesterday thanks to the rain I suppose, but I still wore a little something to class. The costume turnout on campus was pretty bad though :c

Holy shit, this is amazing. That helmet, how did the whole process go to make it like that?

The helmet was a batting helmet I picked up from a thrift store for a couple bucks, looked like this;

I just cut off the visor-part, drew out the crown point pattern on the top with a marker and cut it out. I thought it would be harder to cut the plastic, but I ended up getting the job done with a table saw and a jigsaw (it had a small hole in the top so it made it easy to guide the jigsaw). After cutting out the points I put them to a flame and bent them upwards to get rid of the curvature a bit.

Sprayed with plastic spray paint, cut the B out of red duct tape, and that was about it!
