I've just tried a Gamecube controller for my very first time

all you got to do is play Soul Calibur II and Capcom vs SNk 2 on all three to come to the conclusion why Capcom doesn`t make Capcom Classics Collections for the Gamecube or Street Fighter Anniversary Collection on the GC is because the GC controller is the worst 1st party controller last gen for Fighters... bottom line

BUT THE GC VERSION OF SC2 SOLD THE MOST!!! - that`s just because Link was in it`(Sales Age blah)

ironic that SF2`s first console apearence was on a Nintendo platform (SNES) and then just mysteriously went onto Sony and Sega platforms afterwards

Saturn Controller FTW

The Gamecube controller was fine for - big shock - Nintendo's games. I can see how some people had issues with the third party stuff.

I had no problem with it. Anything I played multi never really had major issues. And a lot of time with Smash Bros. tends to let you really appreciate it.

What I never understood was the love for the Dualshock. It was majorly lacking. The biggest offender, of course, being the dual sticks, which were horrible. No matter how much I used that controller - which was a lot - I never got used to that.

Luckily, shooters were ass on the PS2 so it wasn't a big deal.

I think from last gen, the XBOX Controller S was probably the most well rounded.

It was the most used controller, and it was at least functional, so that's why some think it's the best.

Personally I find it the most inferior of all last-gen controllers.

Well how could I be a hater if I've owned every Nintendo system except the Wii(not out here yet)? And been in gaming since before Nintendo? :lol :lol

Lol, there was Nintendo-hater, that had 3 Gamecubes, just to be albe to say "Look, i have 3 GCNs, i cant be a hater!" :lol
And really, the PS1/2/3-controller is by far the worst.
Non-ergonomical, bad analog-sticks, position of left stick sucks, too many shoulder-buttons, analog-front buttons ftl...

It´s a tie between GCN and XBox-controller, but i prefer the analog-sticks of GCN, so there it goes.

N64 controller was great. Just chenge the C buttons for a second analogic stick, and would be gold.

Anyway, GC controller was the most newbie friendly thanks to the red and big green button. Everyone was ablo to play a GC game easyly compared to those who tried to play a PS2 game. I don't care about the Xbox controller, the short model was fine, but better the PS2 and the GC one.

Also, none of the 3 controllers we're ankward enought to force you to stop playing a game. It's just a matter of adapting to them.

:lol :lol :lol

Good thing my posts stirred up some action.

But saying that people buy Nintendo consoles just to say bad things about them is just plain stupid. It's not like they're free.

games that actually require a precise and responsive analog stick - Burnout 2 (I had all the world records - Xbox analog stick simply doesn't provide the same level of control), FZero GX (a handful of world records), Waverace: BS, Resident Evil 4 (aiming vastly superior to PS2 version), Super Monkey Ball.

the face-button layout is excellent for some games (the large A button and sliding access to buttons surround it works extremely well for some titles) and poor for others which rely on a diamond shape.

the analog triggers are also not good for some games but essential for others, like FZero GX. The Xbox triggers simply wouldn't be as good for GX...although they are better in other circumstances.

the Z button was very poorly placed and should have had a twin on the other side of the remote.

the second analog stick was also poorly designed as it should have had the same shape as the primary stick.

the d-pad sucked.

Yep. Can't really argue with any of that.

Well you've already shown you are prone to saying dumb things. It's not a huge leap to assume you might be capable of dumb purchasing decisions.

And THAT was a good thing to say?

If the only thing you're gonna post are personal attacks maybe you should look up the thread in the OT about writing threads and not hitting the 'Post' button.

It's a personal attack if I called YOU dumb, not if I say you said something dumb.

And saying the Playstation controller would make Nintendo games better, then saying it's pointless to discuss since no Nintendo fan will ever admit it, is a dumb thing to say.

If the discussion is worthless, why are you still here?

Another annoying thing about the Gamecube controller is that it requires too much force to push down the triggers.

Play RE4 and your right index finger will get a workout.
How much force you require is up to the developers.

blame your parents for making you with retarded hands...or stop gripping the controller as if you were trying to strangle it. you virgins and your tension...

I have god hands. Two.

Actually, I have long fingers - the pad felt a couple of sizes too small for me. I think the problem with Metroid was all the trigger work, which may well have led to an unconscious strangulation grip.

I'm here because you seem like such a nice person ^^
