It certainly is expensive in the UK.
Honest Burgers and Patty & Bun are both cheaper and better.
It's the equivilent of $11.70 here for a cheese burger. Mcdonalds big macs are $3.93 in comparison.
I watched the daym drops video couple years ago and thought "why not, give it a try"
I walked in and saw ÂŁ15 for a burger meal. Fuck off.
As you are in the UK I'd suggest the handmade burger co if your looking upmarket burgers. Bout ÂŁ8 for a meal and way better than makkies.
It definitely costs more than it's worth. Particularly the fries. And yes, I'm being serious. Anyone who thinks those fries are good has issues, man.
5 guys is def. expensive (but good. Their fries are to die for imo), but I have to comment about the in&out mentions.
After seeing many people commenting continuously on this chain on GAF I had to try it a few months back.
...
That's just a slightly better Burger King which is itself slightly better than McDonalds.
Choice at In& Out is terrible (basically burger or cheeseburger). Burger itself is ok, nothing special (good quality, but again nothing out of this world).
Not on the scale of Whataburger or Wendy's.
Which are themselves upscaled by Red Robin (the Royal with the egg is great).
Which is itself nowhere near the quaity/ taste of a 5 guys or Fudruckers.
Which are finally upscaled by specialty restaurant like Blue Moon Burgers

My 2cps about the burgers I've tried so far in the US (I am French, in the US since 2005, US naturalized since 2010).
If you're being really strict with your diet then you might have to ask them if they fry other things in the deep fryers. It's possible they use the same oil to cook their bacon.Oh, the fries are cooked in peanut oil and are vegan!
I'll get a large then. >![]()
Seems like a lot of planning for a fast food joint
Don't be a bitch like everyone in the thread saying not to get large fries OP. Get it large and eat the whole thing.
Believe me. I weigh 130 pounds and get a regular burger and large fries all the time. You can do it.
Five Guys in the UK is stupidly expensive for what it is. Don't get me wrong, the food is definitely better than the likes of McDonalds and Burger King, but it's not worth the price it costs here.
Good food? Yes. Good value? No.
Judging by some of the comments saying that they think Five Guys sucks, I'm sure the quality varies from place to place and who is cooking up your stuff, since the one we have here is always pretty good.

Five Guys's expansion was super aggressive, adding thousands of stores in little more than a couple years. They definitely lost themselves in the process, because they don't really control what their franchises do at all. Despite being in the neighboring state, the meal I get at my local franchise doesn't come remotely close to how good the food at the original five or so restaurants in northern VA were; we used to drive down solely for Five Guys. I miss those days a lot.Yeah, it must. My local In n Out blows the local Five Guys out of the water.
Seriously, I tried it after hearing the praises for a couple years and felt like I got ripped off. Fries were plentiful but of low quality, like eating soggy cardboard and the burger didn't have much taste either. The fact that I had more options didn't make up for the fact that it tasted bland in the end anyway. Hardly even average overall.
Maybe I should try a different Five Guys but I'm still not a fan of price/product ratio.
The burger is good but the fries suck (yes, including the Cajun fries).
I think the In-N-Out fries suck too, btw.
Do five guys still let you add extra bacon and cheese in their bacon cheeseburger
I fucking love Five Guys' fries when they're crispy and not undercooked. But when they are, yeah, they suck pretty hard.
The burger is also my favorite chain burger hands down. I haven't had one that compares yet to any east coast chain or otherwise.
