Iwata talks about the Revolution

Translates to

"Did you see the Red Carpet at the Golden Globes? Yeah, that hot piece of ass Scarlett Johanson got felt up. Fo sho"

O.o

He says they'll show the near-final version at E3, and is aiming for Thanksgiving in the US, and end of the year in Japan. He says price will be to a point where people are willing to pay to play games. If you sell it at $500, and no one buys it, then its pointless.

Man the scan is blurry, but I at least got that part right.

Here we go again, US before Japan.

- it is not good and doesn't want to miss the holiday period
- (REV in US) if not launch before thanks giving day, it may not be fully supported by the retailers
- final design (almost final design) of Rev will be displayed at E3

EDIT: see what Troidal says :D

Thanksgiving?? Way to be a year late to the next-gen party, Nintendo. =\

... What about Sony? It's not like they have the PlayStation 3 out on the market... shit, Nintendo seems to have a better idea of when they will launch the Rev than Sony does the PS3...

I was hoping a few months sooner, but maybe this is the first step towards putting to bed these rumors that Zelda: TP will be a Rev launch title.

You're right. But Sony is the clear market leader -- people are waiting with bated breath for the PS3 to come out. Nintendo can't afford to sit on their asses while the other two console makers release their product. The company said they'd release Revolution around the time as their competitors, which seems to be true. But they also said they won't be last to market -- and I doubt Sony is going to wait until Thanksgiving to drop the Bluray Bomb on the world.

Ture, but with a bizzare control method, and being at a graphical handicap, they really can't afford to send out a rushed product either.

Europe before US? :+

Or Europe not at all :[

I'll give you that, though the control method's "bizzare" nature and the extent of the Revolution's graphical "handicap" are debatable. (Examples of arguments against these descriptors include that the control method may be more natural than using a control pad, the ED-output graphics may look better on a regular TV than HD-output graphics on HDTVs, etc.)

Nonetheless, who's to say how detrimental it would be to "rush" the system to market before Thanksgiving? What if the PS3 releases in September? Is it possible to put out a quality Revolution with reasonable supply in September? Is Nintendo just sitting on this thing and mildly tweaking it while arbitrarily biding its time until November, or are the next 10 months vitally important to getting the system to work at all?

this scarlett boob thing has become it's own GAF meme :lol :lol :lol :lol

I love when she looks at the camera and shakes her head "what is GOING ON here?"

ubisoft has 3 games for the revolution. coourtesy of jeuxfrance.

Even if the first figures of sales of the video game Peter Jackson' S King Kong were well below the forecasts, the Ubisoft editor announces to want to create in the future more plays based on cinematographic licences. Yves Guillemot, the chairman of Ubisoft , declares thus in an interview granted to magazine MCV that its company intends to manage to generate a quarter of its incomes thanks to film adaptations in video games, a strategy which will be all the more effective with rising generation of console which will allow a greater immersion in the plays thanks in particular to higher graphic performances. In addition to the plays drawn from films, Ubisoft , which currently recruits new talents to develop projects on Nintendo Revolution, announces to want to create at least 3 new licences each year on the consoles next-gen. Ubisoft should also acquire new studios of development soon.
and they are hiring for the console development. :)

No it says that Ubi is recruiting for a Rev project and that Ubi is aiming to create 3 new IP per year on next-gen consoles.

At the Golden Globes ScarJo had a pre-red carpet interview. So the gay fashion-type guy asks her about her underwear. She says -hardly any, its all built in. So the guy proceeds to check out her golden globes with his hands.

After this you can close the thread. Everything we wanted to know it´s been said :)

I think the Revo will launch the moment the software is ready. It´d be very stupid of Nintendo to launch with the specific software that justifies not only the purchase, but the whole different route the company is taking.

I´m worried about the Euro launch though :-/

This is totally what I expected...

Sony must be aiming for the same date - it'll be just like XBox and GCN launching so close all over again.

Not surprised japan gets it after as well - DS sales clearly show Japan's holiday buying spirit is a couple weeks later than the US.

I guess this means I have to import one. I really hope that you can connect to the US system (with BC and all) from EU.

great news!

i love nintendo's new direction with ds, nintendogs, brain training, etc, so i can't wait to play the revolution games, it's my most anticipated console ever :D :) :D

on topic: Seems like a relatively late launch for Revolution. It could even launch after the PS3, and in 2007 in Europe (uh oh if it misses christmas 2006)...I guess E3 will demonstrate whether this matters :/

Next-generation starts when Sony says so. MS isn't gaining much ground by starting early as we can all see. I think, while 360 will not go the way of the DC due to the company behind it, that MS shot them-selves in the foot by not only launching early, but then having a major shortage of the console for a few months after launch. Nintendo is right to launch around the same time as Sony instead of months before them imo as next-generation hype will be at it's peak when two next-generation consoles, one being from the market leader, launch at the same time.

Nintendo has changed the desing for one more greater in size but with less size than the PS3 and 360 designs.

You have read this here first.

So...Is the Scarlett Johanson boob grabbing game confirmed for launch, or...?

Fixed. :)

For what it's worth, I think you have the best argument so far for why this November launch isn't a bad thing. Sony is the more dangerous competitor to Nintendo, especially when Microsoft is bumbling around with the 360's launch.

what is not good? I am confused here.

disappointing that the Rev will be so late. When is it thanksgivining in the US?

I can only pray that I don't need to wait as long for Zelda :|

If that didn't take me 45 goddamn minutes I would add the revolution controller in her tits or as the microphone or something .. but you can just imagine it.

Wow we're getting revolution news. @_@

With rev coming out so late there really is no excuse for something like having only 100 or whatever MB of ram. =\
