More RAM is almost never a bad thing. And the "almost" in this case is if the price point is $99.99, otherwise it's simply unacceptable.MrSardonic said:yeah...unless it doesnt need anymore

So let me get this straight. They are taking on the PS3 head on - during the holiday season? This is going to be brutal.
Nintendo messed up there.

Yes, because launching a console during the holiday season without the PS3 has worked out great for MS. ;-)PhoenixDark said::lol @ Nintendo

In all seriousness, this is a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" type situation for Nintendo. They cannot afford to launch after this holiday season, but don't have the software ready for an earlier launch before the PS3 hype-train is running full force. A Thanksgiving-ish launch window makes the most sense.

Ponn01 said:IAWTP too. They really don't have much choice in this matter. Obviously they cannot wait till after the holidays, and it's not likely they have launch titles ready to go for spring or a dreaded summer launch (well, actually would it be that bad to launch in the summer when there is usually a drought of games?). And the most important thing to Revolution's success which is an absolute must is a killer launch lineup. They cannot afford to half ass it like the N64 and Gamecube.
If the 360 shortage was over a few hours after launch, that would mean it bombed total since it was outsold by every other major console and handheld in December. And it the topics people still make about not being able to find one would make no sense at all. Getting a console like Revolution out early could be one of the worst things Nintendo could do since not everyone is ready to change consoles yet due to big games like Zelda and FFXII still coming next year. If Nintendo can market Revolution as something completely new and different like they did the DS before it launched, then it should hold up against the PS3 as well as it would have with a head start and a years worth of no decent games. I mean, it's not like the PS3 wouldn't have completely dominated it anyway.Danthrax said:Fixed.![]()
For what it's worth, I think you have the best argument so far for why this November launch isn't a bad thing. Sony is the more dangerous competitor to Nintendo, especially when Microsoft is bumbling around with the 360's launch.
marc^o^ said:Iwata said Revolution would need a strong launch lineup few months ago. And as Nintendo has not been releasing a lot of software on GC these last months, and as the GC planning is also pretty dry in 2006, we can expect the Rev launch lineup to be huge indeed.
John Harker said:The winner is the one with the cheaper software on holiday launch!
It'd be the same reason as with the DS. If they need to have them both out by the end of the year, and neither release is going to be more than a month or two away from the end of the year, it makes sense to give the US the slight advantage due to the rise and fall of holiday sales coming sooner.cvxfreak said:Interesting how, even though the DS is setting records in Japan, the US still gets the Revolution first.
PSP says hello.

Duderz said:And? DS outsold the PSP for the holidays. :/
The whole "it is not good" probably refers to saying, "It is not good to launch after November." Just a rough translation.
PhoenixDark said:Are you joking?
PSP - 1.12 million
DS - 1.07 million
Now, if my math serves me....guess what...? The PSP outdid the DS.

Duderz said:What about during the holiday period? Didn't the DS outsell the PSP month to month from Nintendogs on?
I never said the DS outsold the PSP for the year, just the holidays.
WHAT ABOUT JAPAN?PhoenixDark said:Wrong. The PSP outsold the DS for the holidays, period. It's not really a big deal.

I don´t think it´s that the reason. Thanksgiving is earlier that the Japanese holidays season. That´s most everything defining which country gets the console first.Wyzdom said:Pretty simple imo.
Microsoft is already here and doing well, Nintendo need the attention of americans first.
Their crowd is won already in Japan. You have to pull the good at the people that complained before first.
