Come on Soul, Pop earned it bro. You can be a student of the game and be successful. Mourinho, the most successful manager some would say in Soccer never played a game at a high level and still is successful but he earned it. These examples earned their right to criticize and bitch, Skip hasn't done shit and is the National Enquirer of sports. His knowledge is bitchmade.
I view it more as entertainment. I'd rather watch an hour of Skip talking than most of the NBA analysts who actually got paid to do it on NBA TV. Besides, when did it become a rule that you have to play basketball for years before you could criticize basketball? The fuck is the point of the threads we have here?
This is journalism, and it's just basketball. It's fucking ESPN, after all. Besides the discussion here is about whether he lied, and I don't believe he did. Definitely was an exaggeration, but not necessarily a lie.

Pop never claimed to be Pistol Pete
Which was, I believe, Skip's point about how misguided he was in thinking he was Pistol Pete, and that he should take a bunch of shots. He was trying to make a point about Westbrook. Skip wasn't saying that he was as good as Pistol Pete, but that in HS, he was dumb, and thought he was. At least, that's what I took from it.

Exactly, guys like Popovich and Mourinho can actually show the world how much they know about their sports. Bayless is just a useless ESPN loud opinion generator. That's WHY you don't hear Popovich or Mourinho talking about how they did on their high school teams, they don't need to. Bayless is the one who brought his own high school basketball career into it. If he had never mentioned it, Jalen Rose would be out of line if he brought it up on his own.

TBH Dana Jacobs was always terrible. Super awkward, terrible interviewer and really corny.
I don't disagree, she was always playing the buddy of whatever sports personality she was interviewing and that's not what a real reporter/interviewer does.
But I remember her leaving and she said it was because the show became solely about Skip and the debate part. They used to do other segments and lots of interviews and then all of a sudden it became 2 hours of Skip masturbating.

Jalen is just plain ignoring the questions SAS asks now. Also, Jalen said anyone can be a journalist with the blog, twitter, etc. SAS took offense. Jalen later said he respects the media.
Cris Carter came on and him and Skip also rehashed the issues they have had. When Skip crossed the line saying look how many rings have you got. Cris also shared a private conversation between him and Randy Moss.
Skip claiming that his High School coach hated him. How he was benched and humiliated. Also he claims that the stats are misrepresented. Says he doesn't care if people would bring it up - he is not ashamed of it. And shared that his HS coach eventually replaced Skip for his Son.
Jalen also brought up how SAS betrayed Allen Iverson. How can you dog your boy like that? Betray their trust. SAS said that info was public already - and his boss was saying 'why are other news sources reporting this and not us?'.

SAS and Skip need to grow a pair and quit acting bitchmade. They make their careers out of taking pot shots and low blows at athletes and now somehow their personal lives should be off limits?
When did they say that? In fact, Skip said during the whole exchange that athletes have every right to lash back out at them.

I get that much of both of their personalities revolve around the "good cop bad cop" dynamic of sports radio/opinion, where one guy makes a ridiculous statement and the other guy takes the exact opposite position, thus generating debate. But it gets tiring when someone turns that into serious, condescending snark like Skip and SAS do. Especially Skip.
