Japan daily sales 4/8

almokla said:
Is it true that the game will never get release outside Japan cuz of the licensing thing?

It's not very likely. However, with the insane amount of numbers this game will do, it's gotta be tempting for Nintendo to try and work out some sort of deal with all the license holders here in the West.

JSS and WE9 still on top. How crazy would it be if JSS is STILL on top come Thursday?

Not very crazy at all. Some big games can sell well for 3-4 weeks before dropping from #1. Dragon Quest games usually just sell all in one day in massive quanities. But Nintendo games seem to sell for a long time.

The origanal Brain Training game is at #3 right now. It was released way back on 5/29. Nintendogs also is coming in and out of the top 20 in the dailies.

Well, I'm not going to claim to know the trends of Japanese game sales, but I state Thursday since it seems that strong sellers would be momentarily knocked off by new releases on that day. What IS being released Thursday anyway?

Sales of the two brain games have exploded over the weekend. In part thanks to the Obon holidays, and in part thanks to the new ads Nintendo has been running on TV. There was a really convincing ad for "Brain Training for Adults", done in the same style as those diet shows on TV. I can't wait to see the actual numbers for this week. Retailers seem pretty surprised by the surge of sales for the brain games.

I bet both games end around 400k-500k. They have better legs than Nintendogs. Plus there is the factor that they are cheaper than a regular game right? I think Nintendo has found a goldmine.

Yeah. Someone posted this article at GAF with this dude from Microsoft and stuff saying that games need something like books, cds and movies because they are all 20 dollars at most and games are priced 50 dollars. These braing games are priced very low, but they don't have much content so it makes sense that it's so cheap but it is selling extremely well. So maybe Nintendo has found a goldmine.

keep saying that.. it'll never change it unless a new rule in GAF states that its porn.. only after that I'll change it

Can you atleast host it somewhere obscure so I can block it with firefox?

Oh and I can't wait to see the numbers for JSS , I'm guessing it'll be tearing up the jpn charts for a while.

Use Adblock to block images you don't want to see. Almokla, your avatar is awesome. Do not change it. Also, if you don't want people to adblock your avatar, you have to change the name of the image daily(unless people are smart enough to block the entire URL but if you use imageshack they won't dare to block imageshack since everyone uses it). :) Screw the haters. Now, back ontopic...

Mushiking's also got amazing legs. Wonder where it'll end at.

What exactly is Mushiking and why is it so popular? All I know is its by SEGA and undoubtedly has nothing to do with Mushihime...

It's based on an arcade game and an anime.

Well, I don't know about adblock, but some simple custom CSS will block any avatar almokla ever uses :)

Code:
a:link[href="member.php?u=975"] img {
    display: none !important;
}

I hope JSS can boost sales of other DS games I want to see come overhere like Full Metal Alchemist and Quendan.

Actually, I'm going to ask Bandai if they have any intention of bringing the game over.

Yeah, but you have to be a nerd to use that.

Anyway. I wonder if anyone knows here (probably not) how much JSS has shipped so far. 320k was the first shipment, but I assume there has been more, but how much exactly?

A bit of speculation on my part. Winning Eleven 9 if it compares with the last couple will probably be between 120-150K for this week or about 20K a day. If JSS was only a little above that it would hit arounfd 450K for the week. However it could be way more than that even. On the other hand it looks like Gundam for the psp will probably debut at 20-30K for the week which is fairly unspectacular. It would also be less than Gundam DS debuted, Gundam psp being a psone port the comparison isn't really saying much. This week is all about JSS and how older games hold up.

do yourself a favour and import Ouendan.

First of all, the songs will not make the transition and they are a vital part of the game being as fun and quirly as it is - can you imaghine playing this game to something like linkin park or jackson 5?

2nd, the actual gameplay is tied into the songs, they would have to change that which means chainging the dance moves of the guys and the animation of the manga panels. also the stories being told are so japanese that they would almost definately be changed for a western audience.

Import this game and enjoy it as it is, any US release or remake will not be the same game. Definately worth it. Hours and hours of fun gaming.

Gosh, I'm amazed at Mushiking.

Sega should have released a Mushiking Red and a Mushiking Blue.

don't give em ideas! though they should have learned from Nintendo...

I'd say: Mushiking Blue Beetle and Mushiking Red... um... Worm?Ant?Green Grasshopper? (is there anything besides beetles in mushiking?)

Sheesh...and the train keeps rolling, eh? Now that translation FAQs are showing up everywhere, I'll probably import this week.

Whoa.

Dang. It's always a good sign for DS sales when the Dogs - and even WarioWare (no. 18) come back to visit the charts.
Well, this is daily sales... it's meaningless unless they visit the charts for another few days.

I would like to see some actual game sales numbers.
Here's the schedule for EVERY week (unless there's a holiday in Japan).

Wednesday night - rounded off totals for the weekly software chart
Thursday night - final numbers for the top 10 in the weekly software chart (and a listing for the rest of the top 50) and final numbers for the hardware chart

Well of course - but in the case of Warioware, you're looking at a game that is over 8 months old. The most logical reason for that blip would be for new DS owners to be going back to pick that game up. You can also bet it's not far down the charts on other normal days.

Nintendogs > Taiko already? Oh my god I cannot WAIT until later today ^_^

Quick preview of the weekly sales:
DS hardware has sold almost 3x its usual amount this week.
JSS sold about 200k
Yawaraka Atamajuku has passed 300k
Atama wo Kitaeru Otona no DS Training has passed 400k
Nintendogs has passed 600k
Mushiking has passed 500k

As I said before, I wasn't surprised to see older DS games pop up in the daily charts. This is good news, it amazes me how well DS is doing over in Japan.

I wonder how Nintendo is going to try and recreate this turn-around over here in America. Will it wait for Pokemon? Or will Nintendogs be a smashing hit? Hmm..

I really don't think Nintendogs is going to mirror the success in Japan.

I'm just not feelin' it here, ya know?

At least, not at launch... maybe it'll be a slow-burn-to-inferno, but I'm just not getting a strong vibe for it in America.

The price cut will help, but to general Americans, $20 isn't that huge of a deal, we usually only see large spikes once the cuts hit the $50 mark.

The general public doesn't seem to excited about the 'dogs, and the media isn't exactly blowing this away either.

Can someone please explain how NOA cant emulate the success of the Ds in japan here in the states? I mean, nintendo has the perfect chance to put some serious hurt on the Psp here in the states and they are flubbing it. I just dont understand what NOA management is thinking.
