The 1st Taco Bell in Japan is opening today in Shibuya, Tokyo and already 200 people have lined up before it even opens.

To be fair, Japanese line up for everything.

I witnessed a 40min line for popcorn. Just some varieties of popcorn man...

No popcorn is worth waiting 40 minutes for.

Damn and you know that probably taste better than the American equivalent all Japanese fast food does. I wonder what kind of great menu items they are going to get.

Well, they don't really have tacos in Japan, from what I hear. A Japanese friend of mine who lives in America now told me that his favorite place to eat was at Taco Bell. I can see why there's a fuss over there, it is new to them, after all.

No kidding. I went to Tokyo Disneyland and saw an actual wait time for a popcorn cart. 30 MINUTES!!!

Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Big Box with a Dr. Pepper. Get in on it Japan!

On a side note I remember when Krispy Kreme first came to Canada people were lining up around the block for them. Like a year later they were all out of business. People like to line up for new stuff, it doesn't really mean much in the long run.

i dunno why everyone is surprised, people in tokyo have always lined up for insane amounts of time to buy literally anything new and even remotely 'exotic' (western).

Yep.

Was in Nagoya last week and there was a massive line in the station for a new variety popcorn store. At least an hour. People were hauling massive carriers containing half a dozen large bags in each hand.

To be fair... American fast food restaurants tend to be 100x better in foreign countries than in America. It will probably not be the same Taco Bell.

I miss Japanese McDonald's.... teriyaki burger please ;(

It's a novelty there.

Seen Germans line up for Dunkin Donuts when it first opened there and that's not even particularly 'exotic' for Germany.

Taco Bell needs to come to London.

Well, it's a first store in that country, and looks to be well-marketed. So lines like these are not that uncommon, especially in Japan.

And I dunno that Taco Bell had a bad rep in America lol.

You guys don't understand. Mexican food outside of the Americas is absolutely dreadful. Taco Bell is good in comparison. Plus, the food will be tailored specifically to their palates. Fast food chains taste different depending on the country.

Japanese versions of western chains love their crazy menus. Holy shit. I don't want to think what kind of crazy ass, fucked up shit Taco Bell will come up with.
