I'm going again for three weeks in November. Let me know how tourist friendly Shikoku is. I know some of the language and actively learning it but I'll be solo. I think looking at the size it's as big as Wales and can easily get from one side to another via train in a few hours. Will be there for like 5/6 days I think.
ok, I'm done with the Shikoku part of my trip now and I can say it's pretty much like the rest of the country in that it's fairly tourist friendly. however, since I was driving a rental, I can't tell you the situation with public transit. regular trains shouldn't be an issue but if you have places in particular you have in mind that you want to visit, might be best to study and plan out all the train/bus rides ahead of time. often times places that you have in mind to visit might not be compatible with each other when it comes to transit. however, if rental car isn't an option, renting a bicycle might be a good idea too. the cities of the region seem to at least be pretty accommodating on that. the routes in-between thou, not so much, with lots of mountain roads giving you some tough climbs if you get out of the cities. do you already have some places you want to visit in mind?
Really picked the wrong year to think about going back to Japan...been just trying to get airfare sorta out, and with this gas price BS, it keeps going up before i can plan to buy a ticket. Was around $1200 when I first looked earlier this year, now it's $1700-1800![]()
yeah. I feel like right now might not be the best time for a trip with the Iran issue still on going. unless you can find a good deal, I might recommend waiting a bit until the situation is better before booking. maybe even skip this year to make your money go further.
