After reading this thread I have a few comments being a 40 year old. This is off-topic since I haven't heard the album yet cause fuck Tidal and Sprint. Let me know when it hits Apple Music.

re:Current Rap: Production in my opinion is the best it's ever been. Alot of the songs today I can't help but jam to because the beats are soo fucking good. As for the actual rappers, most of the time I barely understand what they are saying outside of the hooks. The majority of them just aren't on par with the older rappers.

re:Jay-Z: I would say his last "good" album for me would be American Gangsta. Everything else just seem "lazy" I guess would be the word.

re:Joe Budden - Saw the video and yeah that was straight disrespect from him and to a lesser extent Akemdics(sp?) or whatever the hell his name is. Blatant case of jealously and pure unadulterated hate. Dude was a decent rapper, but I was done with after the multiple reported domestic violence cases again him. Fuck him.

re:XO Life Tour - Good freaking song.

realest dude in OT. Appreciate this post.

Rare album to actually grow on me listening more throughout the day. As others have said every single song is packed with quotables. For ten tracks long, it's dense. And the insane production ensures that there is major replay value.

I think this is probably gonna end up in his upper echelon of albums

Eh not feeling the album but I was never a huge Jay Z fan. Some decent tracks and it seems Jay had some shit to get off his chest obviously but not blowing me away.

I haven't listened to Eminem's latest solo albums but thought he was great on Bad vs Evil. Now to check if my tidal 4 trial is still active...

Billboard says next week for Apple Music.

Also the physical (has no release date yet) will have more songs

@Young_Guru: Guys calm down Adnis will be on the physical copies. If you guys act right I may slip a couple other songs on there.. shhh don't tell jay

Budden's reaction makes more sense after watching this:

Also listened to snippets of Jay's album. Good so far.

Hoping more rappers go the route of 10-13 tracks from now on. These shorter albums are perfect.

Damn shame my attention span isn't the same.

Gucci Mane got in down pat, 10-15 songs, 30-45 minutes, all good, man ain't had a bad project since gettin out

Even I start to zone out once I see that an album, any album, has more than 15 songs

I've only listened to the album once, except for The Story of OJ which I've heard a couple times thanks to the video, but I'm feeling this album. I appreciate Jay rapping about some grown man shit. That's what I liked about Life is Good, even if it wasn't amazing.

No I.D. killed it on the production too

I don't really fuck with em projects anymore

I'm just saying the dude can rap

Haven't listened to the album yet, I'm still mad that Tidal decided to charge me for their stupid music subscription after clicking on "free trial"

Bad vs Evil has 2 or 3 great songs, just like every Em album since Encore. His last two solo albums have way too many tracks that are purely composed of punchlines. Compare that to his first three albums, which are largely composed of tracks that are built around themes, subjects, or stories. He's fallen a long way from grace, and it's sad, because I bet if he wasn't constantly surrounded by dickriding yes-men, someone would tell him that he fell off artistically, even if he didn't fall off commercially.

That's the bare minimum for putting out a rap album. You need to be able to write songs, not just write raps. If you're just going to do battle-rap punchlines and lyrical gymnastics, stick to mixtapes and freestyles.
