How in the world is that homophobia? Not contesting it. Just want to know.

Do you think the reactions of people saying "wtf" would still apply if there wasn't another dude rubbing Nas head? Lol. Come on. Everybody chuckles at that gif because it looks sus. It ain't hard to tell.

Isn't he doing collabos with some Australian boy band?

this album is surprisingly great. pretty crazy that jays still got good music in him this deep in his career. i thought MCHG was his death knell. i was so wrong.

And what's his shtick?

I sold dope
I taught these young rappers how to sell dope
I bought expensive things with money
I have a LOT of money
Beyonce is my wife
We have a lot of money

I used to like Jay-Z a lot when I was a teen, but I grew up and he didn't (musically, in his case, in my opinion). He still put out some amazing verses since then, but verses...not albums.

The beats are nice and laid back. I think it's a pretty decent album. Nothing amazing. No tracks that are particularly hype or upbeat like holy grail or niggas in Paris but then again him trying to do something too upbeat at this point would probably come across as pretty lame.

The only reason the words Nas Lost are in big blacl bold is because it's another grown man stroking his face

Yes the gif has homophobic vibes. Always has, which saddens me but damn it not a whole lotta gifs for Nas Lost plus whenever it's posted folks give funny ass reactions

So you haven't listened to this album then.

We need a Watch the Throne 2 for that at this rate the Album should be called, "Kanye Vs. Jay Z"

Ether is filled with not so thinly veiled homophobia though, so maybe #naslost.

Takeover is the better dis track because Jay shits on Nas's career, instead of resorting to middle-school insults about appearance or sexuality. Way better produced too. That Doors sample is great, unlike the corny MIDI on Ether.

Thought 4:44 and Family Feud was a Kanye beat for a minute. Sounded too right.

Pretty apparent that you haven't been listening then. Go listen to the black album.

Album is good. Some of the mixing seems off, perhaps due to how much the samples are chopped apart. Speaking of the production I like it overall but feel like some of it doesn't sound...smooth. Can't help but think I'd love to hear 9th Wonder try to do some of this. He has the cleanest, smoothest sample chops in rap IMO, post Dilla.

I like takeover better as well but Jay did call Nas the fag model from Karl Kani's esco ads.

well, it's from Kanye's teacher so...maybe thats why

So it's NoID that produced that. Heh.

Don't know if I should be happy or sad about that. Would have been good to see Kanye go back to form. Then again, the OT so...

Ether was the better diss, it's not even up for debate at this point. The battle is over, ever Jay acknowledged he lost so...

And let's not forget "fag model from Karl Kani's esco ads" so if you gonna knock one for that shit, knock both.

Yup. The streets already decided that way back. No debate. Irrefutable. Nas won.

Take out Beyonce and you could be talking about any rapper who came from the hood.

It's obvious you haven't listened to Jay for a minute if you think that's all he talks about.

On the diss tracks. Ether is a better overall diss track, but Takeover doubles and works as a song and is just more enjoyable to hear.

word, these guys stay delusional and can't accept that Nas won. At the time they even had a verb for ether, if someone got destroyed they would say he/she got ethered.

I don't think Jay Z is for me. I've tried this album 3 times now and walk away with only liking a couple songs (Family Feud, OJ). Sometimes I really like his bars but there is a voice (sample?) in the background of a few songs that are really overpowering and annoying to me.

Have you listened to any of his other albums?

The video for 'Story of O.J.'. Man. Shit is amazing. Might've catapulted the song to my favorite on the album.

Dont have a sub to Tidal, but there is a brief clip of it on youtube and it looks so damned cool. I do love that track anyway, but the music vid looks pretty wild.

a man is cleaning the gawd's head for him while he puts in work, and its used as "nas lost"? cmon now

thankfully no, that's why it's interesting

is he? my man cakes from so many places i can't keep up
feels like just last week he was showing up blazed as fuck to that ghostbusters merch thing

yeah that's true

this argument is so tired
beat's nice but takeover & jay's other replies are likewise filled with homophobic shit from the era ("i ain't got a 2-way/you gay" type shit), nas had some potshots but literally murdered him on wax & dropped it on the man's birthday
go look up the radio reaction from him if you think he wasn't shook. jay had a hot song, nas made it a hot verb

lol isn't Ether full of homophobia?

see above

My skin is black...

My-my

Skin is black...

I'm not black...

I'm OJ...

.........

Ok...
Does anyone else feel weird that he uses "Support Black Business" to self-servingly justify putting his music behind a pay wall? It wasnt like he used the song to promote things he does not directly profit from. I didnt listen to the rest of the album and I am a white guy, but this kind of bothered me when I first heard the track.
