Hey guys, this isn't necessarily new material, but it's a good compilation of material not available on his two previous mixtapes (The Come Up and The Warm Up). Enjoy.. if you don't, you probably don't like hip hop.

The Blow Up Mixtape

Thanks. Eli really ruined that Diplomats beat for me. I can't listen to the first track without grinning like an idiot. Is the entire thing ripped beats or is there some original stuff?

If there's any justice in the world J. Cole will be hugely successful in the future. Thanks for the link, I'll check out this mixtape.

FUCK

I thought this was going to be new stuff.

Oh well, thanks anyways...people who just got into J. Cole/haven't searched for all of his shit probably haven't heard these.

Yeah, I liked maybe half of The Warm Up and the rest showed lyrical talent, but I wasn't feeling the songs for various reasons. Not enough to spend hours on youtube searching for more.

I Get Up and Lights Please are nearly daily listening.

I probably don't listen broadly enough to answer that accurately. Like Stat Flo said, this is pretty much all "old" stuff.. though it all sounds to be around "The Warm Up" or later era, at least.

He won't. I don't see him being more successful than Lupe (during his first 2 albums) which is quite sad. Hopefully he learns from Lupe's errors and does better though.

St. John's, represent!

I'm a big fan. One thing I wish he'd work on in his delivery is to provide different intonations and emphases to certain phrases. As it is, some of the nicer rhymes and punchlines get blended in by monotony.

Here here. Who was it that was pimping the hell out of him in the old thread, Bowser? Thanks.

I haven't gone thru Cole's whole catalog so I will check this out. Dude was a revelation last summer with The Warm Up.

That's what I'm expecting, I'm hoping I'm wrong :/

I think Jcole will end up being more succesful than Lupe (on a relative basis of album sales then and now). Jcole has a real Jay-Z endorsement (practically a song introduction), and he raps with a bit more teeth than Lupe. Jcole has lyrical ability, but is less prone to talk over listeners heads or delve too far into sub-pop culture stuff.

Wait, why the comparisons to Lupe??

Cole is really just too dope, I wasn't introduced to him until I heard his verse on Jayz "A star is born", it made me go back and listen to all the stuff he put out. I'm am hoping his album is gonna be good, "Who Dat" was pretty good. Is it true he said he doesn't want and features on his album? if so, then more power to him.

Yeah. I heard he doesn't want any features on the album. He'll probably have Jay-Z, which I don't mind. If I were to compare him to anyone, it would be Nas. I don't know, his lyricism reminds me of Nasir. I hope his album is as a classic as Illmatic is.

And about that Diplomatics track...

I'M THE BEST MAYNE, I DEED IT.

Premeditated Murder and Who Dat are both original songs from his upcoming debut album I believe. I tried to listen to The Come Up and The Warm Up a couple months ago and just wasn't feeling them. But his verse on A Star is Born is ridiculous and those two tracks I mentioned above are solid.
