What's the context of this gif? why is he so touched by Fedor?

Van Damme is awesome, not only in terms of his martial art skill, but his acting. Three of his best films are JCVD, In Hell and Assassination Games and each film he really shows that he isn't just a guy that fight, but someone that can act and do it really, really well. Very underrated in my opinion.

You guys should really watch the tv show, the final episode has JVCD having a family dinner with BOLO HIMSELF.

About the phone call that ended his career, I cant remember which episode # it was on, but its the one where it starts with him cruising around Dubai on a speed boat and tanning and enjoying the scenery. He suddenly starts talking about the phonecall.

Again, this is going from memory, i've only seen it once about a year or two ago in a marathon of watching the serie.. So the numbers and words might be a bit different

He was on a boat and he was at the top of his career, around 1993 or 1994, and he got a call on his boat from a super big time head of a movie studio who wanted to offer him a 4 movies contract for 10 millions a piece. JVCD mentions that at the time, the success (and drugs) had gotten to his head, he was extremely arrogant and he started yelling at the hollywood studio boss, talking about 'how insulting it was to offer him 10 millions per movie' and how 'the other action stars like Sly and Arnold' are pulling '15-20' and that he would not settle for less than 20 millions (which was insane at the time, and still insane today, he notes); then he told the guy to 'fuck off and call him back with a real offer that would not waste his time and be so insulting'.

JVCD then stops talking and looks at the camera, somewhat teary eyed, and says..

"Well.. Hollywood never called back"

Really guys, go watch his series, its really interesting.

Ye saw that yesterday. I love the part in the series where he gets a phonecall saying the director of bloodsport 2 doesn't want JCVD in the movie. He gets super emotional and starts getting more angry as he talk when he suddenly explodes and starts yelling ending with: "I WILL NOT LOSE THIS FIGHT". Was awesome moment...

The bump on his forehead is a cyst or a bone deposit of some kind, I forget. He could have easily got it removed ages ago but his explanation was that it adds character to his look when acting so he decided not to remove it.

biggest belgian actor is history
probably will be for the next 1000 years atleast

i don't see any belgian surpassing his international succes/recognition

hes the first and the last
the alpha and omega

I also watched JCVD last night.

dat fucking monologue

was that scripted or was that just him pouring his heart out?

It was scripted but you could see that he went deep inside himself for that scene.

In French interviews, he's really wild with his analogies about life in general. You know how Rocky Balboa is really clumsy when talking about life and advices most of the times? Well Van Damme is the same but in real life. Clumsy guy with a heart of gold.

The Muscles from Brussels. How can someone that grew up on 80s and 90s action films not love him?

I am planning a special night for when Expendables 2 opens. Man Night. My friends and I are going out for red meat and beer. No chicken or any white meat shit. Burgers or steak only, and lots of beer. Follow that up with a midnight showing of Expendables 2. I expect extra hair on my chest after that night.

Barely any mention of Universal Soldier or Legionnaire. Am disappoint.

I loved Legionaire. I really should pick up a copy at some point

Is the Quest that good? It's on Netflix.

Just saw Universal Soldier the return. So bad it was almost funny. Almost.

I remember watching Hard Target at the theather with my dad, lol. I must have watched it thousands of times as a kid and it's probably my favorite movie of him (even if he has the ugliest hairstyle ever).

Kickboxer is his best movie, followed by Hard Target, Double Impact, Universal Soldier, Timecop, Wake of Death, AWOL, Cyborg.

JCVD is a seperate movie to his regular catalogue and an excellent movie in its own right.

Just finished watching Jean Claude Behind the Scenes. What an amazing look into his life, all of his homes, his family, and JC's mind. He still has a lot of demons troubling him, but he is working his way through them. I was happy to see him end up with the role of Master Croc in Kung Fu Panda, especially since it grossed like $700M. With The Expandables 2 arriving next month, I feel like JCVD is slowly making a comeback much like Stallone.

There were a few people in the documentary that said something very true, Bolo being one of them: for the 60s and 70s generation, there was Bruce Lee. For the 80s and 90s, there was Van Damme. But for the 90s and up...there has been no one. No one on that level of fame, at least.

Yeah, he was really passionate and emotional in the Behind Closed Doors series. He sure loves to make contact with his costars in action scenes. I'd be pretty piss if I was the costar tbh. But yeah, his daughter. <3

Okay, what the fuck. I just watched Kung Fu Panda 2...JCVD's character quite literally had 4 lines. That is bullshit.

Great movie. But seriously, it's bullshit.

Same thing happened with Jackie Chan in the first Kung Fu Panda movie. You get the feeling they only wanted their names on the poster but not in the movie.

Yeah, exactly. What a crock (hah! pun!) of shit. Give the character some depth for Christ's sake.

No wonder the documentary showed JCVD completing his lines all in one day.

Whatever, I can't wait for Expendables 2. That's going to bring JC back. And I hope that his fight at the end of the year really does occur. Win or lose, that guy is an absolute legend.

I think one of the best things about Jean Claude is that he's kindof sort of aware of his irony status, unlike Steven Seagal. Seagal is basically the best thing.

Steven Seagal in a family comedy film would be mindbendgunky amazing.
