Jeff Cannata's New Show - Kickstarter

People act like this project doesn't need Kickstarter. And they're right. To actually produce the show he probably doesn't need Kickstarter for a pilot. But to keep it running all this extra money is going to help. But the biggest thing, the absolute biggest thing is it's easy advertising. When the big guys come on to this site, the advertising is just as good as the money they get.

Well it's the other way around for me. He's pretty much the only reason I listened to that shit show for as long as I did.

Sadly it is the same for me. I loved 1up Yours but for whatever reason Garnet could not get the talent together for Weekend Confirmed to provide meaningful conversation.

But I liked TRS and I like Jeff. So I threw him some bucks and wish him well. Sometimes I wish he would reign it in a bit, but he is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me; like a modern day equivalent of Gamefan magazine.

I suggest he do a Let's Play video series w/ audience choice for a new stretch goal.

it's laughable that people on here think they have any fucking clue what goes into producing any form of entertainment. here's a clue for them. you fucking don't and never will. your lives are devoid of meaningful creative influence and skills and there's a reason for that. you don't possess a wit of experience or knowledge in that regard. if you did, you'd actually be successfully integrated into the entertainment industry but we can all pretty much agree it's better if you aren't. keep fucking that chicken though and acting like you have clue. it makes for cute proclamations of self-implied importance.

absolutely nothing, but grammar and punctuation retorts are common from intellectually inferior posters who have nothing to actually say. congrats on being mediocre, though. i'm sure it's comforting to be so bland

.

I've never taken part in a Kickstarter, but I miss TRS like crazy. Stoked that Jeff will be back on the air, for I too, love loving things.

Speculation, go!

Left one looks like Geoff Keighley but clearly can't be him since he already has a job. Third one could be Alex Albrecht. The woman on the right, Morgan Webb?

Morgan Webb would be awesome.

Just please for the love of god do not let it be Andrea Renee. Please. I am giving this kickstarter money. I wish Andrea no ill will I just do not enjoy her contributions to conversations. And I am trying to communicate that in the nicest way possible.

if he had only made an "no andrea renee" stretch goal ...

The third mystery person has to be Brian Brushwood and the fourth looks like Alison Hayslip. Not sure who the others are.

Also I listen to WC for Jeff, when he isn't on there things get weird.

I don't know who either of those people are. Apparently Hayslip did the Feed for a while on Attack of the Show but I think that was after I gave up on ATOS.

Man, Screen Savers... RIP. :(

This I would kick start. Bitter salty rage is far more entertaining than loving things.

Chill out.

I didn't watch TRS but I really like Jeff on Weekend Confirmed (to me he is definitely the best part of the show) nice to see this Kickstarter has gone well for him.

Second strech goal met now. Looks like we'll be gettin a Jeff Endurance Run once he sails past $80k.

But beyond that - and the much better equipment, studio space, set design, and overall quality we will be able to afford - I will also do a special live stream Let's Play of a video game... selected exclusively by 2N1Team members! Should be a lot of fun. We will hang out in a live stream, play a game (I fear it may be Deadly Premonition) and I'll narrate my experience

Man, he has to spend over 30 hours skyping with his supporters? Jeff is a brave man indeed, lol...at least he's one talkative guy so I'm sure it wouldn't be boring.

I actually thought about doing that level tier but then then I realized:

1) that is a crazy amount of money for me

2) how awkward it would be trying to have a real conversation in that context (I paid you $250 now talk to me for a half hour?!).

I don't begrudge Jeff his success. I'm glad this Kickstarter has done well for him. But some of those tiers really do seem like "pay me money to be my friend." I do like the "Let's Play" stretch goal but then again I'm biased since I suggested it. :)

Jeff is awesome, I never watched TRS (discovered it once it died), but I pitched in $10... on the condition that he never stops doing Weekend Confirmed.

$80,000. Another strech goal met. Looks like he has a good chance of hitting $100,000 with over 3 weeks left.

You should really check out the archives. Very entertaining stuff. Some of the episodes/moments are just priceless.

if we hit $100,000 I will triple the number of episodes you will get, regardless of backing from a distributor. The idea was to produce a month of content as a pilot and seek distribution. If we hit that goal, you're guaranteed to get more of the show, come hell or high water, no matter what else happens. I'm also looking into the feasibility and scheduling for either Eurogamer Expo or Essen Spiel in Germany. Essen, in particular, has always been a dream of mine (it is literally on my "bucket list" of things to do someday).

Gross.

Wow, that's such an obscure reference haha!

Miri Jedeikin is one of the co-hosts.

Hello 2N1Team!

What an incredible first week it has been. I cannot thank all of you enough for the phenomenal outpouring of support this Kickstarter has received. I am energized and excited to start this new show.

In honor of week 2 of the Kickstarter commencing - and also in honor of Pi Day! - I'm pleased to reveal one of awesome people I've already confirmed to be a guest co-host for one of the initial episodes. It's none other than the brilliant, ravishing, incredibly fun Miri Jedeikin from Electric Playground! Those of you who watched me during my year stint on Reviews on the Run on G4 Canada remember Miri and I working together, reviewing Blu-Ray movies. I loved debating films with her, and I'm so excited she has agreed to help ring in the new series by sitting in on one of the first few episodes. You'll be hearing about more confirmed guest hosts in the coming days and weeks.

Also, by popular demand, I'd like to announce BRAND NEW high end Reward Tiers! I've received numerous emails and tweets from people disappointed that the higher end rewards sold out so fast. I've opened up a select few of the original high end tiers, but also added a couple of new ones - including the epic of epics, uber top end tier. I think that one will be a lot of fun - and all of you will see the result in an actual episode.

Plus, I've added a hoodie option above the t-shirt, if you prefer your swag in the warmer variety. Don't worry, those of you already in tiers above it will have the option of either one when shipping time comes.

Thanks so much for joining the team. More to come soon!

He does but he quit.

Why did he quit?

I think the whole concept of Kickstarter is really flawed... is there any Quality control over the product in kickstarter? I mean Jeff is an entertaining guy and all, and im sure his show will be top notch, but some random could easily make a shitty show and take the money and run...

secondly if you ask for a set amount of say $20k and you go way over it like $100k, the guy is like $80k richer... which is all well and good, but is that what kickstarter is really about? It would make more sense if you raised just the right amount to make the product. But of course because the kickstarter guys take 10% why would they do that? They want every cent they can make. It's basically a website where you can pretend to be poor and need money and boom suddenly you're like $100k richer.

Jeff i love you dude, and you don't even have to reply to this post. I just question whether kickstarter is pretending to be something its not, basically a get rich quick tool.

(rolls eyes) If you don't trust the project creator to 1) Deliver, and 2) Use all funds pledged toward the furthering of the creative project in question, don't make a pledge. It's very simple. Just sounds like you're whining.

I think recently people have got a huge hard-on for devaluing the costs of a person's skills, time and labour. Just because YouTube offers the ability for an amateur to upload a video without the costs of a full-blown production doesn't mean that everyone should work for free and suddenly producing a high quality show, with interesting content, good production and editing is a cheap affair.

Speaking as someone who has worked in a creative industry on projects not dissimilar to things we see on Kickstarter, I feel as though they are generally low-balling the costs and hoping the idea snowballs with public perception. Whereas when I used to get funds directly you'd highball costs and meet somewhere in the middle. Maybe because they think it will put the public off if they asked for more reasonable cost?
