Jeremy Clarkson on Gran Turismo

But the best thing about the game is the inclusion, for the first time, of the Nürburgring. Last year I spent a couple of days trying to get round this fearsome 13-mile track in a Jaguar diesel in less than 10 minutes. In the game I shaved two minutes off that time by using an Aston Martin DB9. And I didn’t have to spend a night in a bierkeller, singing to oompah music. The track really is devastatingly accurate, even down to the graffiti that has been painted by motor racing fans on the tarmac over the years. Maybe some of the bumps are missing, and there’s one braking point that is completely wrong, but if you’re planning on going to the Ring this summer, get the game first. You’ll save yourself a fortune and stand a much smaller chance of being killed to death.

A good read from Jezza.

which part of the track is wrong?

Yes...Top Gear...

Brilliant show.......so much better that the crappy american car programs with the muzak in the background :)

Top Gear rocks and I'm not even a car fan!

"You’ll save yourself a fortune and stand a much smaller chance of being killed to death."

Too true, too true...

The best part of top gear is that they don't love every car. THEY CAN'T ALL BE GOOD, CAR AND DRIVER TELEVISION

The best part was when Jeremy Clarkson got his brand new Ford GT40 delivered and realized too late it was too wide to drive across a famous London bridge. he backed up traffic for hours.

I'm actually watching the ep where he tries to beat his fellows who are flying to the Alps, while he's driving a Ferrari right now...

I remember hearing/reading/watching something a while back about the large increase in deaths at the Nürburgring since GT4's release. Too many people are tearing off around the track, thinking they know every bend, only to find out that one of Polyphony's artist hadn't quite mapped a bend correctly, leading to a missed braking point and a nasty collision with the wall... maybe that's what Jezza was on about?

Anyway, that photo of Clarkson must be 10 years old!! He's almost looking youthful :D

I have the Exige ep where Clarkson tosses that car around. But that's all he does, it wasn't driving really. The same with the Skyline review he did. Gimme Tiff or gimme death. PEACE.

That is the ugliest ferrari I've ever seen. It looks like a made up car that a second rate developer would put in a game in lieu of getting a ferrari license.

But that segment is good..

Agreed... I just watched the Porsche for $3000 ep... now THAT was funny...

My favorite is when he is driving some car (don't remember which) he tore around trying to avoid missle lock from an apache gunship. :lol

Same episode.

Top Gear eps are more entertaining in a juvenile sort of way and their production budget seems higher.

Their obnoxious overuse of a fishbowl high contrast filter is a bit annoying though.

But Fifth Gear, while sporting shorter episodes is a much more informative show.

Speaking of GT, someone at GTPlanet is reporting that Kaz said in the latest Auto Klub he wants to have GT5 done in 2007.

2007? Wow what else did he say?

Not much else. We'll probably hear more at TGS.

He will also remove the biggest/main new feature of the game.

Only 1 feature has been removed from the series, and that's one that didn't even start out to be in it (they decided to go with it about a year into the games development).

does anyone know if GT4 online has officially got the boot or is it going to be party of this Xmas's line up?

Also - any idea where PSP GTA is ?

I'd expect some type of GT add-on this winter. I mean you'd expect them to milk the game a bit like GT3. They already started with Prologue and it was like printing money. I'd figure either an online expansion or a new track/car expansion (maybe with online included) would hit near the end of the year.

I think the PSP version ceased to exist the day they actual sat down to port the code and realized they couldn't just hit a button and port the game straight from PS2 ^^;

:( i'd be all over a PSP version. There is something about the licensing challenges, gameplay that i think would suit the PSP. I hope that it's still alive.

Also - i wonder what happened to "GT4 for boys"? what the hell was that going to be?

Well here's what he said back in march:

Eurogamer: About PSP. Obviously you're making GT4 mobile for PSP. It's a bit of a silly question, but will it be a full version of GT4 on a handheld, and will it support wireless multiplayer?

Kazunori Yamauchi: Firstly, the answer is no. The PSP game will not be the same experience. Secondly, whether you will be able to play against each other wirelessly, the answer is yes. I've changed the focus of the PSP version of the game. The focus is on playing together.
