I mean, I can see why they've picked him but at the same time I can't see why they picked him?
He can play a good Lex, but he doesn't look like a Lex

As soon as it was said Argo's writer was being brought on board to go over the script I knew this had to be the case. The delay will be worth it in the end. I enjoyed Man of Steel. However films can always be better and I want quality out of this film.

The script was the weakest element in Argo, though.

LOL.

Clusterfuck.

What's with both companies now making clusterfuck superhero movies? I don't think we really need 25 different main characters to make a superhero flick.

The casting of this film is either ridiculously brilliant or ridiculously stupid. I'm honestly not sure which.

Thinking about this now, I don't think the Zuckerberg joke is far off. You can see the writers meeting, who would be our own modern Luthor? Lol Zuckerberg? Yes! Let's get Eisenberg! Done.

Dude looks like he's 16 but if he is a true "actor" and not just somebody who plays himself in every movie, he should be able to pull it off.

I mean, I would have never in a million years looked at Heath Ledger and thought "the perfect Joker" but that's what he turned out to be.

I think Warner Bros. is fine with completely ruining anything good about both Superman and Batman. While good in The Social Network, Eisenberg as Luthor seems like a very bad idea.

Hathaway wasn't horrible, but she was forgettable as Catwoman. I don't remember any one being that put off by Jackman. Ledger is a good actor, I don't know why people were that against him. Eisenberg plays essentially the same character every time.

Plus people use this line of reasoning every time a casting decision pops up and more often then not the ones who say it's bad casting are the ones who were right.
Ehh... I would argue that most people value the impact of an actor on a film and under-value the impact (or maybe don't fully understand) that directors have. A bad performance by an actor is OFTEn the fault of a director. I say this as a person who has directed some good actors into some pretty terrible performances.

One step further: most movies are bad. Almost ALL movies are bad. Betting against a movie's quality in any way shape or form is usually a safe bet.

Superbad/Breaking Bad Eisenburg/Heisenburg. Close the fuck enough I guess.

Looking forward to seeing a fast talking nuerotic baby-faced nerd playing as Lex Luthor.

It's definitely an odd one, but Lex has never been presented on film exactly like the comics. If they want to make him a villainous CEO for the modern age, then tech/nerd is the way to go. The CEO that a more classical looking Lex embodies is a half whit nowadays. He talks about power and self determination, but doesn't know how his business even works. It rings a little hollow because we've seen the emperor without his clothes a few too many times. The ones who build empires with their bare hands now don't look like Lex Luthor. They look like Jessie Eisenberg.

I just don't know if this is the team that can pull that off.

Awesome. Eisenberg is a good actor in my books and if this means we won't get the same old bald boring Lex Luthor as usual, I'm especially down for this.

It's gonna be pretty funny when we find out that this movie features extended flashbacks to Lex Luthor as a kid and that is the half of Luthor that Eisenberg plays.

Odd choice but a bazillion times better than some old intimidating bald guy played by random famous actor with some gravitas which would be so boring and the last thing Superman needs, Cranston for example, Spacey, proven example.

That is one evil Alfred. Will be using more than just a golf club.

I hate Snyder but this is risky and worth a shot casting.

Jesse Eisenberg....

It's too early for April Fools.

Wait it's not an April Fools?

It's like they know the film is gonna be a car crash and are now just throwing in random nonsense. This isn't Heath Ledger levels of inspired casting, this is downright embarrassing casting. If you wanted to go for a unique casting choice, by all means go for it. Not Michael Cera's 12 year old brother from another mother.

Playing safe with everything Gotham side, taking risks with Supes. I like Eisenberg as Lex and while I don't like Irons as a person he's a safe Alfred.

Zuckerberg being the template of Luthor would make sense to me. Who else would have the ego to challenge Superman than a man who built a vast business empire at a ridiculously young age. Who knows, maybe the youthful energy/tech culture would bring some of the mad scientists quirks back to the character.

Irons is awesome. Caine was a great precedent to set as having high quality actors for the role and I can hear the sarcastic wit from Iron's Alfred already in my head.

But Lex... just no.
