Jet Set Radio XBLA/PSN

People think JSRF was easy? Man I sure had trouble trying to navigate some of those open levels....Skyscraper District FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

PEOPLE WEREN'T MEANT TO CLIMB SKYSCRAPERS IN ROLLER BLADES
That's not difficulty, that's bullshit. That's like saying the slowdown in some districts was part of the difficulty. I enjoyed the game, got 100%, but it was pretty much a cakewalk outside of a few areas where it just felt broken. Sewers was another spot where it felt like the devs were just giving me the middle finger.

How many PS3 PSN games are playable on Vita?

AFAIK only Hustle Kings, Top Darts, and the new Motorstorm RC. It definitely needs to become more prevalent if Sony wants vita to succeed though. I think most, if not all, SCE's upcoming PSN game will be playable on both, and possibly you get to download it "free" if you already own the PS3 game for any upcoming ports. They allow the publisher to decide whether or not to follow this business model though, that's why you see SOE and Popcap eye gouging psn consumers with another 15 dollar port of PvZ .....you have to pay 30 if you want it on PS3 and PSV :O

Remains to be seen what other publishers will do.

OT. I would be more interested in a full on Skies of Arcadia remake on psn.

I'm surprised this thread isn't dominated by users calling it Jet Grind Radio. Fine by me!

Please SEGA, don't fuck this up. No borders, 1080p, real 16:9... INCLUDING THE HUD. I hate seeing stretched HUD icons.

BOW - BOW - BOW - BNOW BOW BOW BOW!

SUPA BRUTHAAAAAA...

I've been replaying the game for the first time in years, and I'm still in love with it.

Fight or Flight really shows what the game is all about. You are not going to get JET without a plan. The rocket pack gunners will follow you everywhere and kill you. There is a good chance it will be very intense as you try to beat the clock/avoid dying. It wasn't as hard this time since I partly remembered how I did it, but it was still very satisfying and incredibly fun. Which actually brings me to my one complaint: once you beat a level and save you have to go through the other levels to play it again. I wanted to keep playing it for score.

Even though Cube is my favorite, I mainly use Gum (for graffiti scoring) and Mew (for speed).

I didn't know the Dreamcast could output that resolution.

Hopefully JSRF is coming in the future...I can see why they'd release it separately to maximize sales, just hoping it's in mind.

Hope Sega hasn't forgotten about the pleas for Shenmue 1/2 PSN/XLBA either. They HAVE the rights just sitting there, as Ryo was featured in Sonic & SEGA Allstars Racing, etc. Don't skimp either Sega, do a real good job and include all Passport content, extras and transferable features in.

And how about the rights they have for NiGHTS? When is THAT getting PSN/XBLA treatment? Oh yeah, about Planet Harriers, how about some Afterburner Climax-first-time-to-home-consoles treatment. Before I leave Sega, what about why you're not letting Q Entertainment release Rez HD to PSN?

Oh forget it.

^^played Planet Harriers this weekend.

You found an arcade cabinet, or via emulation?

We need the damn game. That, Panzer Dragoon Orta/other Panzer Dragoon games and Sin & Punishment 1/2 would be railgun heaven on PSN/XBLA (but I believe Nintendo owns S&P).

I'm sure SEGA still has rights to Orta as well. Lots of potential for reviving missed gems from last gen for SEGA, especially with their failed Xbox 1 support. Gunvalkyrie, Shinobi PS2, etc please.

Legit sit-down cab. It was glorious.

Sadly, every JSR thread becomes that. Similarly to how FF threads turn to "which one is the best" debates.

I'm cool with it though, if it gives this thread mor attention.

That's what I was going to say. Every JSR thread becomes people saying which version is better. Me, I love both.

Nice, it sounds like you found a place that imported a Japanese cabinet.

There seriously is not enough praise for Planet Harriers...if more people knew about it, maybe it'd have a chance of being available on home consoles (via PSN/XBLA/Steam).

You see a lot of love for Orta, S&P, Rez, etc, but PH is up there with the best of railgun shooters.

Played it while I was in Japan. I'm not lying when I say tears started rolling out of my eyes. It was so beautiful.

Yes, yes, more Planet Harriers love...now, we must channel this love energy to SEGA until they can't take it any more, and release it on PSN/XBLA...

It shall come with (selectable in the menus) the SEGA AGES Space Harrier remake:

Fuck, I just knew if I updated my avatar to something no one had, some dev would go re-release said game and I'd be under a pile of similar avatars again! Fuck you Sega!

A loving fuck.

Planet Harriers was great, too bad it didn't receive a Dreamcast port.

Shenmue 1&2
Daytona USA 2
Nights into Dreams
Panzer Dragoon Saga
Skies of Arcadia
Dragon Force
Scud Race
Planet Harriers
Propeller Arena
Jet Set Radio Future
Panzer Dragoon Orta
Sega Rally 1 (Arcade version)

We need them in HD Sega.

"Planet Harriers was great, too bad it didn't receive a Dreamcast port."

It wasn't a Naomi game, but a Hikaru one, so a port would've required more effort than the usual Naomi ports the dreamcast got. I don't believe any of the Hikaru games have been ported to any system, unfortunately.

Edit: Quick google shows that Virtual-On 4 Force was ported, but that's it.

I know, Hikaru was a small evolution from NAOMI though. With a little effort Dreamcast could handle the game pretty well.

Sega is fucking idiot if it doesn't significantly tap into the gold mine of old ip's before this gen ends. Compare that to the investment dollars sunk into Binary Domain that is going to see the majority of its sales at bargain bin prices.

I hate to break it to you but those games don't have a market outside a few thousand message board types. It's a waste.

Maybe not a few listed like Scud Race, but Shenmue or NiGHTS certainly do. I know it's cliche to spout the "nobody cares about Shenmue besides hardcore message board dwellers", but from word of mouth alone I think it'd do well decently.

lol investment dollars? Binary Domain's gotten ads up on game websites and that's about it. Don't know where you guys think Binary Domain's getting this huge marketing budget. I haven't seen a real Sega marketing push since Bayonetta

JSRF is broken while the inferior JSR is not. come on.

do the dollars invested in developing the game not count as investment dollars?

The digital ip's will have a superior ROI to Binary Domain. Take business 101 before you lol me.

I see your point, but that didn't stop games like Space Channel 5, Rez, Daytona USA and Virtual On to get the HD treatment.

Says who? You seriously think that everyone out there is going to buy a rerelease of some old game that never even struck it that big? All of Sega's 'big' titles have already been put out on digital fronts. People would rather buy a new box with a new game that's part of a popular genre. Homefront was a shitty game but sold incredibly well in the first month because there's a large group of people that like shooting stuff and don't do their research.

You taking a class at your local community college doesn't mean you know how Sega runs their business.

I will only consider buying this if it's called Jet Set Radio and not Jet Grind Radio. Dumbest name change ever.

This too. Shenmue and NiGHTS would fare a lot better than SEGA Bass Fishing.

(although I consider SEGA Bass Fishing a little gem, the masses don't know it exists on PSN/XBLA. I'm sure some have heard of Shenmue or NiGHTS though)

When you think about it, Jet Grind Radio, makes a lot more sense or at least more sense than what you just wrote.

Set sounds better, and they need to keep consistency because they're releasing JSRF later on this gen digitally as well...right SEGA?

No, not really. "Jet Set" is a complete term or phrase with a history and connotation. "Jet Grind" has no such meaning. It's about the same thing as "Jet Rollerblading and Tagging." It's gibberish.
