Jim Merrick leaves Nintendo

OMG OMG NINTENDO IZ DOOMED IN EUROPE, ETC. ETC..!!!!!

Now that we got that sillyness out of the way... what does this really mean for them?

God no. NoE are going to go from bad to wrose. this guy actually helped improve the situation in Europe. now that he's gone Im expecting NoE to go back to its old self, which means getting games a year after everyone eklse in the world has played them and just not giving a shit about the customers.

Well before he left Nintendo totally he was going back to NOA anyhow. So NOE would still be screwed.

Europeans are the most whiny bunch of idiots.

(I should know - I am one.)

I contest that if the release situation was magically transplanted to an NTSC region, the whining and idiocy would be either at the same volume, or a bit louder.

I don't know what this means from a business standpoint, but this sucks for us messageboard jockeys. Merrick was one of the only PR guys that would actually give us interesting info, or at the very least, candid interviews. Now we've got to rely on Perrin Kaplan again. :-(

Come on then, we need to have the typical "HE WAS RUBBISH ANYWAY" defense. It works with both people (Klobb) and companies (Rare, Silicon Knights)

Can you blame us? NOE is treating us like shit. Hell, even MS which had zero experience with videogames and look how they treat europeans.

Well this just makes it an even bigger loss.

NoE really have to sort themselves out. One of the reasons that Europe is called Sonyland is because Nintendo cant be arsed puting in the effort to satisfy their customers or show people the quality that they possess. Eurpopeans have to wait many months for the AAA titles to get to Europe. Thats just one of their many problems. Merricks departure is just going to leave an even bigger whole.

Have Nintendo made any announcement regarding which person will be merricks replacement?

Well, the Nintendo boys were right with Rare. That was a big ass waste of cash for Microsoft. I still personally miss Silicon Knights. I thought ED and Twin Snakes were both fantastic. Hopefully by the time Too Human comes out the 360 will have dropped in price.

Yes we are a hiney bunch, but its not as if we are doing it for no reason. NoE's terrible work is what is making us whine. I used to live in the UK but now i have moved to a place that sells NTSC games which means that i dont have to put up with the shit that is NoE and I get to play games and discuss them when everyone else is too.

"After nearly 12 years with Nintendo, the last three of which were at Nintendo of Europe, Jim Merrick has left the company to pursue other opportunities," a spokesperson said.

Guess that means he'll create an account here on GAF and other mayor gaming forums and will spill the beans about everything related to Nintendo and will continue to do so through the many contacts he still has at the company.

He wasn't happy most likely. Didn't like Nintendo's pathetic European strategy, which is behind the times compared to Sony and MS.

Oh well. I just hope Reggie doesn't get tired of Nintendo's ignorance toward the west.
