he was my go to reviewer for horror games.

I expect he is leaving to work full time on creepy pictures of Willem Dafeo. A decision I firmly support.

Podtoid is now Holmes, Chris and Jordan from the last time I listened in to it. There's still Sup Holmes, Weekend Hangover, and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember.

Ha I remember the first time he got linked on here and how much of a dick I thought he was, then eventually later on he became 'OK', and now I think he's one of the best in the business for what he does. I believe that's a compliment? It should be. All the best!
 
I've never been a fan of his super critical reviews. I mean, I'm OK with them if it's justified... but that isn't always the case. Especially when he gives games like MW3 a 9,5/10.

BUT...

I still respect his opinions and he's done some funny stuff. Good luck with whatever you're gonna do.
 
May there be many dildos, blow-up dolls, and other sex toys in his future. ;)

Seriously, though, looking forward to whatever he does next (aside from continuing his current efforts).

Him and Adam together? That would be very interesting given that they seem to be contrasts of each other. Adam is more of the mediating, impartial type that tries to take a step back (when he isn't freaking out over the name of a trophy) and focuses more on narrative, while Jim focuses on gameplay and is more prone to taking a strong (and arguably emotional/hyperbolic) opinion.

Would make for probably healthier debates and varied opinions on the venue, so I actually wouldn't mind Jim joining on.

I've always heard of Jim but it wasn't until this year that I actually got acquainted with his work. It's a shame I won't be scanning Destructoid's page for his articles but am pleased to know he'll still be with us in a games related manner through these other channels.

Look forward to what he brings in future and I'll still toll around the big D site cause it's the last remaining ones with a readable front page.
 
I kind of guessed this was going to happen when he stopped putting his LPs on Dtoid's channel. I wish him the best of luck, but it's sad podtoid must end.
It's probably a good thing.
 
Some of his review scores were stupid and just seeking attention, 5 for mario kart 7 and 4.5 for assassins creed 2 just off the top of my head. I never liked destructoid anyway and without his reviews attempting to bring in traffic I'm not sure how well they'll do.

his Jimquisitions were brilliant. He was harsh on big budget games that didn't innovate, but when it came to risky games deserving of attention, Jim was usually one of the people that helped get those games noticed.

There are loads of reviewers I can trust to review a big budget game. There are very few I can rely on to fairly review low budget / indie horror titles.

Jim always brings out the hate. I just read his Batman Arkham Origins review because it was mentioned this often already. I understand how he feels about the game and why that would make him score the game this low. There is nothing wrong with the review. Opinions guys!
 
Thank god, I can finally stop reading! Site's gone down hill for me a little ever since they killed off the chatroom on the front page... that was my refuge in the dark pre-GAF days.

On the contrary really, I find Jim was one of the very, very few game critics whom I trusted implicitly. Did I agree with his reviews? Not that often, but the fact is I could always read a Jim Sterling review knowing two things: one, he'd never make excuses for anything, and two, he reviewed games based on how HE felt about them -- nothing more and nothing less.
 
Didn't he say a week or two ago that he wasn't going to leave Destructoid even he had several prospects? Oh well. If he still does Podtoid, I'm good. He hasn't done that many reviews lately.

I admit, he's done some good reviews too. But he has his fair share of shitty reviews as well. People tend to forget that.

Word, He was the only one to "get it",(except the FOTNS Ken's Rage 2 review, the lowpoint of his career.)

Where ever he goes, I'm sure we'll hear from him soon, Dudes voice is needed.

I hope this doesn't turn out to be some JG type axing due to the BO review.

I don't think he was seeking attention. He just might get a little [read: really] carried away with his thoughts on what was surrounding the game when reviewing the actual game. If he doesn't feel like a game should have been made, or dislikes a practice of the developing/publishing company at the time, or some other external factor, he's bound to utilize that in his review. The opposite applies as well of course.
