because Yeezus is crazy...? I thought this was established a long time ago.
but even though he is crazy, he is relevant as fuck.
Kimmel gets more viewers per night than "Yeezus" will sell in its lifetime.
How is he more relevant again?

Because album sales and TV viewership aren't directly comparable in 2013.
Neither is TV and music "relevancy".
You brought up the comparison, and all media has an impact on the culture at large.
He was going off about how he wanted to help people and that one way to help was through fashion. What does that even mean?
Fucking stupid, that interview was some real shit and eye opening for me. There was some really eye opening stuff in there and to make fun of it is just childish. Making fun of Kanye is bottom of the barrel comedy these days.
I don't like the guy, but I think I understood what he is saying, finally (doubt the interviewer did, and Kanye could tell).
He says black people have been given new "fields" to work in, where they think they can reach the top, but it's still "fields" (music/sports), but they aren't allowed to be the masters (the league owners, the music studio executives, etc.). So he wants to sit on the throne of the world-makers, the fashion industry, the architecture world, etc. When he compares what he is doing to his mother's involvement in the civil rights movement, it sounds shallow, because he's talking about money, but he's saying that's exactly what people say to keep him down, how when you are close to the throne you suddenly have to show humility and back away, if you're black. You can be gangster though.
When you think about it this way, pretty much the whole interview makes a lot of sense. He wants to be the Steve Jobs of this and that, not just another "black musician". It just seems to fly over people's heads, either because he is consciously trying to avoid making the issue too racial, or unconsciously, so it's not clear what he's saying without that aspect.

As I posted in another thread:
The point was saying someone who is on TV daily with 2.5 million people watching them is hardly "irrelevant".
I would say that his music has affected culture (and will affect culture) much more than kimmel has (or will) in any of his endeavors. Not that it is a slight on Kimmel, I don't know much about the dude.
The Kimmel sketch is silly because it's drawing false, and frankly reductive, parallels. For one, yes, Kanye is a little strange - he's very direct and forthcoming about his desire to be the best and his high self esteem. But to replace Kanye with a child in the sketch is stupid, because of course the things Kanye says are going to seem silly coming out of a child's mouth. A child doesn't have several critically acclaimed albums under his belt. A child doesn't tour around the world. A child doesn't spark media outrage every time he opens his mouth to say anything. All Kimmel is really saying is "boy, things would sure be different if they were totally different!" which isn't saying anything at all.
I also saw this earlier. While I don't agree with it word for word, she raises some excellent points:

Guess what else came out of Kanye's words? A lot of cheap personal insults in ALL CAPS and stupid meme pictures featuring Spongebob and a sexist slur.
But yeah if you call Kanye childish you're being racist, sure.
I'm certainly not going to argue if someone tells me they think Kanye has anger issues.

If your main beef w one of the biggest artists in the world is that he isnt 'humble', you're a racist.
I say this as someone who enjoys some of his old songs, but Kanye is acting like an idiot with stupid ass high school insults. "I get better pussy than you lolz". "You're a pussy". "Your girlfriend is funnier than you". "You get no good pussy". These are all pretty childish and, to be honest, stupid. If you're a celebrity, then you're open to being spoofed; it comes with the territory.
To be honest, this really just shows how insecure Kanye is.
Like what? What did he say exactly that so eye opening? Genuinely curious.

So many people have words for Kanye who was the one who was insulted, but don't have shit to say about Kimmel.
Why would anyone have shit to say about Kimmel? He is a comedic late night TV host. He, and all the others like him, make fun of people every night.
It wasn't some personal insult, it was a comedy show, that I'm sure has an entire staff of writers, doing a lame ass skit they found funny. There was literally nothing for Kanye to be offended about. If he had just let it go, nobody would have evern remembered the skit by breakfast the next morning.

I guess what I'm saying is that the general vibe from this thread is that Kanye should shut up when he was the one riffed. Now as you said it is a comedy show, but a celeb is as much of a person as you and I are. If he's offended, he's offended and celebs do get offended by these Late Night bits. Craig Ferguson for example once commented how an actress absolutely refuses to be on his show because of a bit he did once. So while it's a joke, it's still a joke at someone's expense. Why would anyone have shit to say about Kimmel? He is a comedic late night TV host. Not at all, but as stated Kanye is an easy target.I don't get it.
People keep taking "sides" in this thing as if Kimmel actually wronged Kanye. This isn't new. Everyone in this thread has laughed at a comedian taking a shot at a celebrity at some point in their lives. This isn't new.
Do people feel that Kanye is on such another level he just gets to be all by himself in the untouchable club, or what?

remember when Jimmy Kimmel used to dress up in blackface to make fun of Karl Malone?

Not really. Especially.

Oh boy. Pulling the race card. These people on twitter. God damn.
