JImquisition: Time To Get Paid

good video and a good ending lol.

I like his videos - talks sense. He should be hired as a consultant for failing games comps.

thanks

now I can never play, watch or listen to the theme song of Duck Tales ever again

hope you're happy Jim

"Overkills decision to make a unique, fun game and let it speak for itself was so fucking successful the project was profitable before it even hit store shelves you bastards"

I love this guy :lol

Wow Jim, that outro and ending!

Great episode though, it shows precisely what is wrong with some of the bigger publishers and their outlandish expectations for their bigger releases.

I wasn't interested in Payday 2 until my buddy at work started talking about it, they're going to be playing it heavily at an upcoming LAN.

As soon as he said "Left 4 Dead with bank robbing" I was intrigued.

Oh Jesus, too many GIF opportunities in the end of the video!

great episode as usual, the ending was hilarious. I really feel like Jim Sterling is one of the only journalists that gets it.

AAAAAAh. Now where's the brain bleach. I can't have the Duck Tales theme associated with.. with.... OH GOD THE BLEACH DOES NOTHING. WHYYYY.

Jokes aside, I wish I could kidnap some videogame CEOs and force them to watch every Jimquisition episode. Wouldn't help, but afterwards I could ransom them for mad monies and live like a king for the horribly short and violent rest of my life.

Yep. Sounds like a plan.

So, uh, yeah... That's what people usually do with silver tape huh?

But that is quite the success story for the Payday 2 developers. I wonder if they plan to make a franchise out of it or anything? I need to get my friends into it and see what all the fuss is about.

I'm glad no one walked in on me watching the last minute. Also, basing this question on what he said near the beginning, is he gay? Genuinely asking.

I believe he's just in an open relationship with his girlfriend/fiance/wife (I can't remember which.) He's mentioned it on Podtoid a few times, I think.

Looks more like a dragon's tongue than a dildo. Liked the episode nonetheless. Was kinda a retread of the Dark Souls episode though, but at least he states this at the beginning.

Too bad Payday 2 is a rushed mess missing multiple missions and with an absolutely horrid drop system.

Good point, as always. But yeah, a retread of the Dark Souls episode. Not that it isn't an important one to make, mind. I always like when a game targeted at its audience sells well enough for the developer to celebrate when a bloated AAA shitfest with similar sales would be considered a bomb.

Like Payday 2. And Dark Souls. And Catherine.

As for that ending, oh my god! I haven't laughed that hard in a while; it was very theraputic.

I was going to post about his topic but the ending is so disturbing I am officially scarred for life. Thanks, Jim!

I honestly had no interest in Payday 2 at all, but Jim Sterling almost sells me on the game.with this video.. until I read stuff like this:

Too bad Payday 2 is a rushed mess missing multiple missions and with an absolutely horrid drop system.

Which kind of conflicts me on Payday 2. This seems like a a potentially good game that could use a few patches.

These work alot better when not aimed at a tiny, inherently abrasive segment of the audience that gets off on the attention and largely responds with more douchebaggery that inspires the rants in the first place.

Anywho, outfits like Atlus and games like Payday 2 (still hate those fucking masks...) is the true bridge between Gen 6s "unique spins and cohesive gameplay on a budget" model to grow successful franchises to Gen 8s seeming "internet grassroots, crowdfunding, and hype fanning" model to the same goals. Forget Gen 7s sidetrip to Hubrisville and Crazytown, we have proper game funding returning, with profits and growth to the smart companies who can grok this still.

I suddenly want to immediately stop playing that Ducktails game.

TAINTED. TAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAINTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED.
