John Carpenter's Toxic Commando - Gameplay Trailer

Oh right, just saw its priced at 30 smackeroos, which is actually not bad. For some reason I thought it would be 60 or something, but at 30, if my friend wants to play it, I'll consider it. Tho we both have backlogs now.
Everyone has backlogs hahaha. I have so many games left unfinished and some not even started but things like Resident Evil 9 and Crinsom Desert are two that I won't miss it. So the backlog keeps on growing.

Downloaded it and uninstalled. it was meh.
Performance was bad
1440p native - 54 fps
1440P DLSS Q - 54 fps
1440P DLSS B - 54 fps

I played the tutorial and 1 round. Im really liking it. Runs good for me, looks great. Shooting and driving feels really good, sound and music is great. Characters and dialogue is cringe af as expected but whatever. Movement feels a bit clunky and no slide is jarring, otherwise its a pretty fun game imo

Had a quick blast. Seems like exactly what you'd expect. Ran pretty good as well.

Will probably pick it up around launch.

Meet the Operator in this latest John Carpenter's Toxic Commando trailer and learn about this ultimate squad multitool. From combat drones with devastating upgrades to clutch revives and vehicle mastery, this class does it all.

John Carpenter's Toxic Commando will be available on PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox Series X/S, and PC on March 12, 2026.

better than expected. Cool physics on the cars and looks and plays good…

If you enjoy left for dead this should be something for you - it has a unique twist at least

Only thing i dont like is the movement, especially during combat. Something feels off to me, also really missing the slide

They patched the demo. They default turned off the cinematic filter, because people on steam are so fucking dumb they cant turn it off themselves and they called the game blurry, because of that LOL

These are the same people who do negative reviews because of non issues like this. The devs are also working on toggle ADS and FOV slider

Just played the demo for the first time, put almost 4 hours in. I'm really digging it and was sold on it pretty quickly. I'll be playing this a lot as it just hits the right itch and makes me wanting to play more

Oh and the price is even better if you already own Space Marine 2 on steam. There's bundles to get $10 off either version of the game. Cheaper then I could find with Fanatical being cheapest if you don't have SM2 and just want this game.

Its also from saber so you know the post launch support will be long term and good, just look at SM2

Went in thinking ho hum this will be crap but bloody hell I had a bunch of fun mindlessly running and driving around killing those zombies .Will pick this up for sure!

Of course the demo comes out when I am on a crappy connection. It will take forever to download it on 5G.

I wasn't sure if I would pick this up but it's only $40 and the Space Marine 2 discount sweetens the deal so why not. If nothing else I'll get a sweet new John Carpenter soundtrack out of this game lol

Also they posted a roadmap:

  • John Carpenter's Toxic Commando has two display modes on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PS5 Pro. Xbox Series S does not have display modes.
  • Quality mode applies better shadows, textures, level of detail, and post-processing effects in general compared to performance mode.
  • The frame rate in both cases remains stable most of the time, except for specific moments related to high visual load.
  • The advantage we get on PS5 Pro in this case is a higher average resolution compared to the other versions.
  • Xbox Series S uses a configuration similar to performance mode, with the major drawback that its frame rate is locked at 30fps.
  • On PC, we have higher settings overall compared to the other versions. However, there are moments when shadows are not projected.
  • With the RTX 50 and DLSS 4, we can achieve frame rates above 150fps with all settings maxed out and an output of 2160p.
