I know and I love it. Especially because they are always sooo sure about everything. Hope Privileged gets renewed, too. Not that I'm watching it but they said it would never ever come back despite all these rumors. :lol

Good news, btw.

I want Privileged renewed because its a good show....and yeah, hilarious reaction.

Also, I dont want to bum anyone out...

But Tru Calling was given a surprise 2nd season, starting in the Fall (November)

During the summer while filming they were told "never mind"

6 episodes had been filmed when the word came in.

The 6 episodes were rescheduled for March of the next year.

Only 4 were aired.

1) Im glad itll be back

2) tvbythenumbers is hilarious. For those of you not aware, they have a cancellation index and each week give shows the odds for being renewed.

This week, Dollhouse, Castle, Scrubs and Better Off Ted have been renewed, creating chaos as all their rpedictions were wrong.

Its hilarious

Wait, Scrubs was renewed?

ffs

Apparently for 6 episodes, but not officially announced. And only some of the cast.
No it's getting an entire season, but Zach Braff and Sarah Chalke will only be in the first 6 episodes to help "transition the show to it's new format".

So I was thinking about watching the show so went to Hulu and noticed episodes 1-7 are missing. Whats going on? I haven't used Hulu in a while.

Some (maybe most/all?) current shows only keep the latest 5-6 episodes on Hulu.

Good to hear about the second season. Rewatched the last episode on Hulu yesterday. Initially just to give it a Hulu hit, but then stuck with it.

I found myself positively impressed with the acting of the girl they kidnapped (and implanted as Caroline) on this second viewing. Why? Because near the end of the episode I realized got very used to her as Caroline in the short time she was so...oh, well.

It was Chrissy Seaver.

Mind blown.

Anyone think Dollhouse and Fringe would go great together?

Okay, now let's collect all of dead souls' posts. :lol
I was going to do this the other day, but it's a huge task.

I love the post about how the Dollhouse finale was the last time the Grr Argh Mutant Enemy closer was ever going to be seen on network TV... :lol

Without reading through the thread to avoid spoilers, what's the consensus on this show following the first season?

I watched the first couple episodes, as well as episode six, and was mildly amused to downright bored. Does the show ever get to the expected Whedon levels of awesome, or does it remain something that seems like it may be cool later on?

The first five episodes were ehhhh, but the rest were pretty good. The show has moments of brilliance, but more than anything it shows a lot of potential. I have high hopes for season 2.

So it's going to be on Friday still, but instead of The Human Target, comedies 'Til Death and Brothers are leading it in.

Also, Epitaph One WILL AIR. It is unknown if it will air this summer, or will be the first episode of the second season. We shall see...

Most of the consensus was that the first five episodes sucked balls (except for the mildly-but-still-kinda-boring The Target and True Believer), and that it got really good after that (people tend to be mixed on the finale).

Perfectly. But it sounds like Fox has big plans for Fringe, and Dollhouse is way too weak to put on Thursday nights.

Now if they wanted to jumpstart Dollhouse, pairing it on Tuesdays with Fringe would be perfect. Give Dollhouse a 13 episode season in the Fall, then in January go back to the American Idol/Fringe pairing.

Til Death is still on the air? I could have sworn that show got cancelled like a year ago. :lol

Til Death is an excuse to see a single thing.

Well, 2 things actually.

You know what I'm talking about.

Yes, you do.

Ew. The only thing she's ever done is inject heaping amounts of suckage into everything she's ever been in. A few seconds of her on the screen is enough to make me go from loving a movie or show to hating it.

And Til Death is still going? I didn't think that would make it past the first season. It looked utterly awful. And it's on right before Dollhouse, so I might accidentally catch a glimpse of it if I turn on the TV too early. :(

Well enjoy it while it lasts folks, Dollhouse got a 1.3 in the 18-49s last night.

TVbythenumbers link

PIFeedback link.

Ouch. Better luck with your next show Joss, cause there's no way in hell this one is getting renewed with those numbers. It pretty much did as bad as Terminator:TSCC numbers-wise.

dead souls said:
Anyone looking at the numbers rationally knows that a 1.3 is catastrophically bad, even for a Friday, and that Streaming/DVR numbers are unimportant to television networks.

Fox: DVR Viewing Can Save Low-rated Programs

David B. Wilkerson
MarketWatch Pulse

CHICAGO -- Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly said Monday that certain programs with low ratings under Nielsen Media Research's traditional measurement can be renewed if they have strong numbers among viewers who watch those shows on their digital video recorders. One Fox show that returns this fall, the Joss Whedon drama "Dollhouse," fit this pattern, Reilly said during a conference call with reporters. "The DVR numbers are a marker that audiences want to watch something," he explained, adding that "Dollhouse" got progressively better DVR ratings each week.

Series low in the ratings so it's almost certainly a dead show.

dead souls said:
Rather than bitch at me you should consider the objective truth: Live 18-49 demo viewers--the only ones that matter to the networks--have been abandoning Dollhouse in droves, with a large portion of the drop occurring after the much-hyped sixth episode. That doesn't mean that the show is terrible--but it does mean that it probably won't be renewed.

DOLLHOUSE ranks #1 in its Friday 9pm time period among Adults 18-34 and Men 18-34 and #2 with Adults 18-49, Adults 25-54, Women 18-34, and Men 18-49/25-54.

I don't think I saw this posted yet...

Joss Whedon talks about the "Dollhouse" renewal, how budget cuts may change the show and his plans for season two.

THR/Hibberd: This must have been a roller coaster for you these past few weeks.

I’ve been busy working on a movie in Canada and just sort of let it happen. I know everybody has been on tenderhooks, but I go to a very Zen place during times like this because what are you gonna do? I sort of assumed they were going to tell me I wasn’t going to do more. It looked pretty grim there. I prepped myself so well that when I heard I felt more like Zero Mostel in “The Producers” than anyone else -- “What?!”

How much was making that 13th episode on a shoestring budget part of the renewal?

We had talked about shooting on digital, shooting faster. We still want to make some classical looking “Dollhouse” pieces, but I think there’s ways to do that faster and cheaper and of course Fox had some other ways to make things cheaper -- but not exactly like Episode 13, which had a very specific, hand-held monochromatic look to it. I like that kind of challenge. As a producer I’ve never had enough money to put my shows on and I make them look as good as they could be. So it doesn’t frighten me. It will give us a nice energy.

Some fans will wonder, “Will we notice not as much money is going into the show?”

My hope is “No.” In the fifth year of “Angel” we cut our budget significantly, yet we built a completely new set, we had an episode set on a submarine in the ‘40s. Nobody felt like it was a cut back. Ultimately if the stories aren’t involving and somebody is going, [snobbish voice] “This doesn’t look as expensive as the last episode,” then the person has strange priorities.

You pitched season two as being more like the last few episodes of the season, can you talk about that?

The last few episodes we got to play "the man behind the curtain" a lot. We did less of, “And this week, she’s a neurosurgeon!” Which we’ll still do to an extent, it’s part of the fun. But we got into what makes the place tick, what makes it wrong. It was less, “Murder She Was Imprinted to Write.” The episodes were more satisfying and the network responded to that. And we also responded to their ideas about pacing and it being more of a thriller and a conspiracy so they were seeing what they were hoping for when we got the aspect we were looking for.

Isn’t that a little ironic though since Fox's initial desire was to be very episodic an stand-alone?

Mm-hmm. Every studio or network will always ask for more episodic because episodes rerun better. But some shows are not built that way. This one seemed like it was more than it actually was.

And given the flash forward of the 13th episode, how will that influence on how second season picks up?

My feeling is we will be paying that off around the – the flash-forward in the 13th episode took place long after where we are right now. So we can be moving toward some of those events which are unexplained. We have a few years where we can do anything we want before it would be weird if we didn’t start paying them off.

They’re returning "Dollhouse" to Fridays, lead in is the sitcom “Til Death.” We you hoping for a different time period? Do you think the show can still pop?

We’ve never had much luck with our lead ins. Obviously the “Til Death”/”Dollhouse” conflux has a huge fanbase. [dryly] There’s a lot of cross over between “Til Death” and “Dollhouse.” It couldn’t be a more perfect match, really.

Yeah, I saw that. If I were Joss, I wouldn't be so coy about being put with 'Til Death. I mean, the show's getting a second season! I doubt the numbers will drop off any further (I mean, can they really?) and as long as the DVR, iTunes and Hulu numbers are still fantastic, I don't think anyone really cares what the lead in is.

I had no idea about that. Angel's S5 budget seemed every bit as big as previous seasons.

Sorry guys, but if suffering through the entire first season of Dollhouse wasn't enough to bring me to tears, a misguided renewal (that Fox will most likely regret) certainly isn't going to either.
