Journey (PS4) |OT| Greatest Hits

Just a general update to those who contacted with us about experiencing a crash, we're on it and investigating still.

Please keep the beauty of this thread going!

Cheers

I played through the entire game with one person. He lead me to most of the symbols and trophies, but I lost him in the water at the very, very end. I watched him go in and then I went in after him and didn't see him again :(
Mainly it just bummed me out missing those two trophies...

Got this for my gf back on ps3 release. Downloaded it on ps4 last night to watch her play. What an awesome game. She had someone with her the time helping her out.

One thing I don't like are the symbols you miss because are sliding or lost a floating point. And you need to exit the game, close and restart the level.

Harder to find information about this, but here you go:

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2015/07/21/journey-arrives-on-ps4-today-with-20-ps-plus-discount/

"The PS4 Collector’s Edition of Journey, featuring thatgamecompany’s two equally original titles Flower & flOw, will also be available to purchase digitally from the PlayStation Store or on blu-ray disc from September 30th."

Thank you! Hoping that's for North America too.

I just realized... since I don't have PS Plus, I guess I'll be going through the game alone? Like, Journey PS4 doesn't connect online unless you have Playstation Plus, right? This experience won't be as great as the PS3 one if that's the case even with the improved performance.

So, any news of thatgamecompany's next game? It's been a while since Journey :/

In my wildest dreams, they would do collaboration with genDESIGN (Fumito Ueda's new studio). Just imagine the feels, guys :3

didn't they closed after Journey ? They filed for bankruptcy

Gah I played through the game with someone yesterday collected everything and my game crashed right at the very end :(

It made me so sad I haven't loaded it since... won't be the same without my random buddy.

Played this with a friend for the first time last night (on the same couch not actually co-op lol) I had prior knowledge to what the game was all about, but he was completely blind. Words cannot describe how amazing our experience was. We managed to stay with the same guy through the entire game, despite almost loosing him a few times. It's so amazing how you form this weird bond with someone you have no contact with other than hitting circle a few times. but that's really the beauty of it, running a sliding around, beeping at each other when we accomplish something. I am honestly blown away by how perfecty executed this game was.

same exact thing happened to me 2 night ago.
the game restarts you at the bottom of the mountain
when you start fighting the wind
. I ended up picking it up again and beating it the following night. After the credits a name was displayed.... I assume it held onto the original person I played with the night it crashed... NILE-000

So after a couple of play throughs where I kept meeting people who were doing their own thing, I decided to restart and go for some of the trophies.

I quickly came across a white robed player, who proceeded to take me on a tour of all the secrets in the game. We managed to stay together right up to the
windy bridge
, and I got every single trophy I was looking for, it was all thanks to the other player's kindness and patience.

I was really looking forward to finishing the game with him /her, but my ps4 crashed.

Gutted doesn't begin to describe how I felt, especially as I didn't get to send the person a thank you message.

The odd thing is I didn't have any crashes before the new update, but I had 2 this evening.

Anyway, on the off-chance that person happens to be a GAFer and is reading this, my warmest, sincerest thanks to you.

Still tearing up at the end though wouldn't mind a memory wipe after each playthrough.

Thank you for the wonderful journey, theshiz5020. We stuck it through from beginning to end, and it was great coming back to this game. Journey is still among the greatest I've ever played.

I doubt someone can play the whole game while your system is online and not find a single companion. That's preposterous!

I just finished my first ever playthrough and played with four different people along the way. Didnt seem very difficult to find friends! Was sad to lose them though, but at least each time a new one showed up. I couldnt tell if it was the same person or not. I thought I had 2 or 3 friends at most.

Journey 2: The Journey Down, maybe a bit depressing?

Granted, sliding all the way back down would be awesome.

Journey 2 Hell, starring Dwayne The Rock Johnson

Am I crazy? I definitely saw that the cutscene focused on my companions death and then his ghost clearly appeared.

I dont remember anything about a ghost. I saw us both "die" but then in the next scene I had a buddy, whether it was the same dude or a new one

Replayed this on PS4 yesterday, and just now got my
white cloak
.

I'll never be able to recapture the magic of playing this the first time on PS3 with others who'd never played it before, but it's still a wonderful experience.

So, how important to the experience is it that a companion has never played the game? I've occasionally heard that veteran player companions diminish the experience, is that true? But I can also imagine that veterans really like Journey and want to guide me to an optimum experience.
Basically, how important is it that I play Journey now, close to release? Thanks for the help

Though it might seem contrary to my last post, it isn't that important, really. I'd say it's much more important that your partner be someone interested in sharing the journey with you, as opposed to charging ahead without you, not communicating, constantly rolling off to do their own thing, etc. That's just luck of the draw, though.

Playing with another newbie who seems as dazzled and clueless as you do can be great, but having an experienced player showing you all the hidden symbols and whatnot is also really cool.

Does anyone else ever message their companion (provided you only had one throughout the journey)?

Yeah I did, he actually joined a party I was in a bit later aswell. It's weird actually hearing what your companion sounds like, but he was a really nice guy, so it was pretty cool.

Thanks! And it seems like 1 or 2 replays are still fun, going by this OT :)

Yeah.. I often get a message - if I didn't I messaged them - thanking them for a wonderfull Journey, or something similar. :)

Both are fun playing with.. :)

I usually prefer to play as red-cape, I don't like to play with ground-charging white-cape.
The last 4-5 times I've played on PS3, I tended to sit and float mid-air, by chirping and letting the smaller carpets toss me up repeatedly in the north-east corner of the bridge-level - and when players run up to me seems chirpy and playfull, or perhaps try the same, faceplant, run in circles - I can usually figure out if they're playfull or not..
If People just breeze past me, I figure they are on a mission or in a hurry, and usually not someone I team up With.
That way I allmost allways get a really good fun partner for the journey. :)

If it's a new player on their first runs, I usually try to guide them into the most exciting routes, with regards to the dragons rather than the most safe ones - in the dark caves, especially I usually see alot of people wall-hugging guiding New players far away from danger - I usually find it much more fun and exciting to run from safespot to safespot close to the danger zones, rather than hugging the walls far from danger.

If my partners is more experienced, with good pattern on cape, I focus on more on exploration and Secrets, trophies, etc.. :-/
No matter what, I allways spend time on goofing around, minor stuff like running back and forth through sand-showers, and stuff, because it's really fun. :)

First play through of Journey is something special.

I had the house to myself and a tad bit of weed, that was one of the most memorable game experiences I've ever had.

Played Journey before on PS3 after loving Flower - maybe the hype got to me but it wasn't really as special as i was expecting and i really took my time checking every nook and cranny which made the pacing a little slow. Definitely a good experience but a little let down.

Played it last night and PS4 after a smoke- got to say i loved every minute of it, definitely an experience to remember. Knew what to expect this time and found a friend to play through with right at the beginning so progressed through the game at a better pace. Amazing game

So I was just about to play for a little while to gather some orbs to make my cape longer, not really wanting to go through the game once again.

Met a fellow traveller though, after a couple of chapters together, gliding down the sand with him, dodging dragons in the depths of the seas I just couldn't leave.

Ended with us completing the rest of the game together.

Love this game.

That was depressing - on a journey with a fellow traveller, only to clip through a mountain in what I believe is the final stage, and couldn't get back to them :(

I guess there's no way to even know who it was to say sorry..

The game still got it.

Lost someone in the final waterfalls area. Never seen him again even though I waited for a couple of minutes at the summit. :(

Finally got the white robe!

Hi everyone, quick question.

I want to start a second run through of this to find all the collectables I missed. When i start a second game, do I have to find all of them again, or will the ones I found on my first game already be "collected" so to speak? Dunno if I can be bothered to try get them all again.

Also I'm just gonna have to be rude and ignore the people playing alongside me whilst I focus on getting them.

They carry across playthroughs so you only need the ones you missed.

It's not hard to get all of them in one playthrough though, and unless you know specifically which ones you got and which you missed then it's probably a safer bet to just try and get them all in one go.

Cheers dude, that's good to know :) I know I only missed three and they were during the sliding down the sand bit, so I don't wanna waste time in the earlier sections grabbing ones I've already got, unless my fellow traveller looks a bit clueless then I might try help him out.

Well if you know which ones and where they are then you can just do the chapter select to go straight to that area and get them to save time.
